My parents as I was growing up donated and their church supplied meals and I attended with my mom to serve. Later as an adult volunteered with youth we incorporated youth activities and serving. When they had an open house for their remodeling I took my boys and walked them through and explained when we're in the rows of bunk beds that people were here from all walks of life who made bad decisions but this offered a way to change. When my son decided people were more important than being an engineer so he was on the path for a social science career. I sent him to carriage town for an internship. Then as a Rn for 42 yrs I have helped my work group volunteer for cleaning and Christmas adoption of families. I abruptly retired for family reasons but wasn't ready to not help people. I contacted Carriage Town and have been volunteering for a year in the health clinic as their Rn. I Love it! I know I am where God wants me right now! I tell alot of people about Carriage Town. It has done so much for the community and property around it.

Scripture is clear on our role in helping the poor. Carriage Town Ministries is Christ’s light in the city of Flint. At CTM, hurting men, women, and children can find a warm meal, soft bed, and Christ’s love. Basic needs are met, but even more than that, a foundation is built for the work skills needed to bridge that gap back into being a productive member of society. As a volunteer, I have seen first hand these needs being met.

I have toured carriage town and met with several of the staff. I'm very impressed with the classes offered, housing for 60 women and 60 men, the baby program and so much more. It seems they handle it all from food to clothing to housewares and personal care. Great place where everyone I've met is polite and friendly.
