Staff on site are really nice and communicative. Admin is awful. I've been waiting for a email response from someone. I even called and got nowhere. I group emailed 4 members of the staff and no responsed after 6 weeks with 4 follow up emails. Not how you conduct business..
We ended up going to Boys and Girls Club. I'd recommend the same.
The Carlsbad Educational Foundation has been such an amazing foundation to work at. As a Social Media Marketing intern, I was able to learn a variety of different positions that helped me gain skills I will take with me to my future career. My work schedule was very flexible depending on how heavy of a workload I had at school, which was very helpful. Every week I would have a meeting that would teach me a new skill so I was always constantly learning. I am very grateful for my experience with CEF and everything I learned. CEF truly cares about the educational experience each child receives in Carlsbad. CEF has an outstanding team with some of the nicest people to work with and I know that they truly cared about me and each employee working there.
CEF is an outstanding organization that strives to serve and enhance the educational experience of every student in Carlsbad. The foundation has raised over 10 million dollars since it's inception to improve education, support teachers, raise awareness for residents, and provide educational access to all students. Their ability to create long-term community partnerships is admirable and directly benefits the entire community. The City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Unified School District are incredibly fortunate to have such a solid foundation supporting its students, teachers and residents.

Working for CEF as a Marketing & Communications intern is a fulfilling experience for me. The whole team is truly committed to creating enjoyable experiences for kids of all ages in the Carlsbad School District. Right off the bat, I have been able to develop skills important to a career in this field: spreadsheet work, website design, creating and sending communications, and maintaining a consistent schedule. I'm appreciative of the transparency my boss, Jen, has shown with me. The CEF helps fill the gap between systemic inequality and student success, and I'm sure they will continue to give students lifelong memories through the events they sponsor for years to come.
Carlsbad Schools are so thankful for the Carlsbad Educational Foundation! We are so fortunate to have their support in so many ways, but I am especially for the impact they have on our students' passion for science. CEF is the reason my students love coming to science class. They have enabled us to do so many hands-on activities and with the variety of supplies, my students can explore their own scientific ideas. CEF provides all of the materials for our students to be able to do hands-on labs. Because of CEF, my students are dissecting squid tomorrow and last class they engineered parachutes using materials from CEF. Next week we are creating light up cards with paper circuits, and motorized bots the week after. Students who are learning from home have received science packets of lab materials so that they can engage in the lab activities as well. Students are getting a genuine experience of science by designing unique controlled experiments of their own, and are learning critical science skills while being creative and enjoying science class, all thanks to the materials provided by CEF.
Carlsbad Educational Foundation (CEF) has been an invaluable supporter and resource for the Carlsbad High School Theatre Department. Ever since the beginning of the department, CEF has supported our program and provided invaluable experiences for the Theatre, Music, Choir, Technical Theatre, and community of Carlsbad as a whole! Without CEF, we would not be able to produce musicals every year as the cost would be too high. CEF has helped us in the past purchase new wireless microphones, lumber, tools, screws, nails, tape, paint, costuming items, and so much more. We continuously rely on the support of CEF to be able to produce our work at Carlsbad High School. As a teacher, I am always looking for new and exciting things to engage the students and CEF always provides that freedom to do so with the grants and support they provide! Additionally, during COVID, CEF helped the department buy a new wireless microphone for an actor, buy some costume pieces, purchase much needed paint and materials, and even helped us purchase a whole slew of props. COVID has made producing Theatre hard, however, the Carlsbad Ed Foundation was the support we needed to get through it and produce the first ever student written and composed musical at Carlsbad High School, titled Falling Star.
Carlsbad Educational Foundation is an outstanding community partner, helping with so many amazing programs in the Carlsbad Unified School District. I have been fortunate enough to have worked with the Carlsbad Educational Foundation since 2007, when they brought the supercharge to our science team, which provides a consumable and durable goods budget for every middle school classroom in Carlsbad Unified to develop and implement a daily hands on/minds on science experience for all students. With the help of CEF, we have incredible access to the funding needed to create an exceptional science program. I can attend a workshop over a weekend, or get an inspiring idea, and with the help of CEF, I can make that idea a reality immediately. They have helped our classes launch rockets to study newton's laws, build scribbling robots to learn about principles of engineering/design, and so much more. Each week in science, CEF helps us to create the types of science experiences that will inspire tomorrow's scientists, innovators and creative problem solvers.
The Carlsbad Educational Foundation contribution doesn't stop there! They help partner with community organizations to fund and facilitate our district wide Science Olympiad experience, providing coaches and facilitating partnerships with local science and technology partners to allow for mentoring experiences through the science Olympiad program (Thank you, Viasat!). They also sponsor our school's Project Lead the Way STEM elective pathway, Middle and Elementary school science days, the development of our Makerspace, and so much more.
The work of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation makes a meaningful impact in the lives of our Carlsbad Unified School District students and teachers each and every day. Thank you CEF!
There is so much the Carlsbad Educational Foundation (CEF) does for our schools!
First, CEF has given opportunity for our students to explore the field of science, and dive in deeper through hands on labs and activities. In science we have a lot of consumables, which CEF generously helps fund. These labs bring life to the curriculum and expands students knowledge. From our Frog Dissections, Robotic Hands, Mouse Trap Cars, Bottle Rockets, Chemical Reaction labs, etc. (the list is endless); students really get to see science come to life. CEF has also helped us coordinate experiences with STEM professionals as well, which promote career choices and pathways in the field of Math, Technology, Engineering, and Science. Truly CEF has helped our students think critically in an engaging environment, that allows student creativity and exploration.
Second, this organization has been the main supporter of our school's Science Olympiad program. This program has let students further their understanding of science in a variety of fields. The knowledge students gain from participating in the program is life changing, and helps students thrive by getting more information about a topic they are interested in, which we do not always have time in the school year to address. Students have gone on to regional and state competitions in this program, and it is all thanks to the sponsorship of CEF.

I joined the board of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation in August of 2020. This non-profit puts Carlsbad kids above all else. The team goes above and beyond every day to help raise money to support the community. During the last year I was able to watch the flexibility and quick responses of CEF staff keeping ahead of the constant changes in order to support their programs within the required virtual models. Further supporting teachers and schools by providing necessary equipment and supplies to make the home schooling experience viable. I'm very proud to be a part of this organization and the team.
I first encountered Carlsbad Educational Foundation through it's support of the high school robotics program that it sponsored and my son was involved. As I became more involved in the program and learned more about the other programs... and my employers sponsorship of many of these programs, I learned that it is valuable to the students it serves and well respected in the school district among teacher and the administration. The focus on STEAM programs and mission to serve ALL the students in the district has a big impact. I currently volunteer for the robotics program 3 years after my son graduated and serve on the Board of Directors because I believe in the mission and the work done by this fine organization.
Carlsbad Education Foundation is the premium on-site after school care program - and both my kids have stayed on-site after their elementary school days. As a dual working household, we were thankful for a safe, fun environment - where they could decompress from the school day and then get a start on homework so our evenings at home were dedicated to family time. When I learned that CEF also pays for all music education across K-12 in Carlsbad, I was amazed. They step in the full important education needs across music, STEAM and innovation.
