A few years ago, my husband and I were both without jobs. And with that came no insurance. I happened to find out about Careavan by searching online. When I went, I was just so grateful because it was better that I could have ever imagined. The people and volunteers were extremely nice and understanding and helpful. It is nice to know that during our difficult times, there are still people out there that give you hope that you are not alone in this. And most important, they care about my children's well being. Mission: The mission of the Caring for Children Foundation of Texas' Care Van Program is to immunize uninsured and medically underserved children, and provide targeted preventative health services to help families throughout Texas.
Results: Many families across Texas face barriers to securing preventive healthcare they need. These barriers include, but are not limited to, cost, transportation, and time. A disproportionately large part of the population affected are women and children. The Caring Foundation of Texas removes these barriers by partnering with organizations, schools, non-profits, and government agencies to move medical providers into communities where there is a need. This makes it possible for many adults and children to receive necessary preventive care to live a happy, healthy life. All services provided by the Texas Care Van program are at no cost to those who qualify.
Target demographics: Uninsured or underinsured children in Texas between 2 months - 18 years old.
