Caribbean Heart Menders Association continue to impact our local and overseas communities through service and philanthropic giving. We have participated in health screening at health fairs and store fronts in underserved areas within our geographical location and donated pediatric and adult medical supplies to hospitals in Jamaica.
Caribbean Heart Menders has been coordinating and executing open heart surgeries and diagnostic cardiac procedures for children with congenital heart diseases who reside within the Caribbean and Central America for eighteen years. These children would not have had the opportunity to obtain these life saving procedures without the dedicated team of healthcare professionals comprising doctors, nurses, perfusionists and respiratory therapists who volunteer their time and clinical expertise to offer these life saving interventions annually. Since its inception, in excess of 350 cardiac procedures have been performed at no cost to the Government or parents of children in the host countries whom we serve. In addition to mending little broken hearts, Caribbean Heart Menders also train health providers and work with institutions within these countries to strengthen pediatric heart programs. This organization also participates within our local community by offering free health screening in collaboration with other organizations and supports other local charitable outreach programs.
I first heard about Caribbean Heart Menders Association as a nurse working at a local hospital in Miami. I heard about this wonderful organization helping needy children with heart disease. The more I found out about the organization the more I was impressed with their work. I then joined the organization so I could also give back to my community. They are excellent and I personally know the amazing job they do!
