Mission: Career gear, inc. Builds strong families and communities by empowering low-income men to overcome barriers and achieve self-sufficiency. They promote the economic independence of low-income men by providing financial literacy training, a network of support, professional attire, career development tools, job-readiness and essential life-skills training that help men enter the workforce, stay employed and become role models and mentors to their families and communities.
Programs: Work readiness program:provides low-income men seeking employment with interview coaching, resume building, mock interviews, image consulting and a full-range of business attire. A participant is referred through one of 65 new york city partner programs.
mast mentoring program:this 6-month program focuses on further developing the skills for stability and responsibility while identifying challenges and obstacles the individuals we serve continue to face. Mentors work one-on-one with young men to address and overcome various barriers to stability and self-sufficiency.
professional development series program:this 9-month program offers classes in four development categories; employment, financial stability, parenting & family and work/life balance.
