I am a donor and today I received an invitation to their fundraiser, sponsored by a Cannabis (marijuana) company and a Tequila brand. Care House is supposed to be concerned about child neglect and abuse and here they are promoting drugs and alcohol that are proven to cause cognitive impairment including violence. Most child abuse cases involve parents / guardians with drug and alcohol abuse. This is shameful. Soliciting sponsors that cause the very harm they claim to want to prevent. They lack integrity and I will support organizations helping our children that don't promote drugs and alcohol.

Thirteen years ago I contacted CARE House in regards to volunteering for their CASA program. It was the most impactful volunteer position I had ever devoted my time to, helping children who are in the court system due to abuse and neglect. Through the years I was able to learn more about CARE House and their programs directed at preventing child abuse, intervening on behalf of those who have no voice and treating victims of child abuse. Flash forward, I am now their volunteer coordinator working with THE BEST volunteers and staff devoted to protecting our children. Surrounded by passionate individuals such as these, well, you just can't have a bad day ;-)
