Mission: Carancahua Community Volunteer Fire Department, founded in 1997,to fill the need for a fire, and rescue services for six unincorporated communities after several disastrous residential fires. The closest responding department was over 45 minutes away. An EMS first responder program is currently being developed in response to a growing population and with the nearest ambulance 30 + minutes away. The service is entirely volunteer and funding has been limited to individual donations and an annual fund raiser. The Department now has 6 response vehicles ranging from a 1967 Chevrolet 500 GPM pumper to two 1986 GMC 4X4 Combination attack pumper/brush trucks. The Department badly needs funds for personal protective bunker clothing, funds for training and purchase of EMS equipment including automatic defibrillators.
