I have lived in the Capital Region for many years, but only recently heard about the Maritime Center. They're doing incredible work, and it's great to have a Center like this in the area. The Erie Canalway Experience is raising awareness about the history and importance of the canals in New York State, and it's really cool to learn how a lock works and to go through one. Plus they're utilizing experiential education - namely boat-building - to teach STEM subjects like math to kids. The value of this organization can not be estimated, because you can not place a value on saving the life of a child. That's what they do with their program. Great stuff!

This organization, the Capital Region Maritime Center, is doing important work for the community in educating people on critical aspects of New York State's thriving heritage, and is passing on the legacy of maritime traditions to our youth. This art of boat building is a treasure that must be preserved, and the concept of using boat building to teach math is exciting and compelling.

Capital Region Maritime Center have really helped me to empower the young people in our community. I come from an impoverished community that lacks the resources to offer young people meaningful activities. being able to have these young people visit their location and get out of their communities is an invaluable experience.

The Capital Region Maritime Center has great vision and mission. The concept of applied learning through boat building, can make a huge difference in the development of a young person. Instead of the sterile environment of the fluorescent classroom, students enjoy the living environment of the classroom along the Mohawk River.

The Capital Region Maritime Center has made a difference in our community and for our region's youth for more than a decade. Two of the bateau replicas built by students of the Maritime Academy have been featured in movies and are still used in re-enactments. As the boatbuilding program ramps up once again, I am pleased to recommend it and the Maritime Center in general.

As the leader of the local Coast Guard Auxiliary flotilla and a Navy veteran, I was invited to be a board member. I had seen the facility before and was curious so I accepted...one of the best decisions of my life. Soon after I joined we had a crisis as our primary tenant left. I believe this was actually a blessing because it caused us to refocus our attention of the mission and goals of the Maritime Center. We are now well positioned as the regional hub of maritime activities and education.

I NEVER knew a thing about the river or boating. Being a part of this organization has taught me that we are on a thriving river full of both educational and recreational activities. I enjoy all the folks I have met through my association with the Maritime Center. It has made me a believer in the opportunities surrounding us!

As an educator in Niskayuna School District, I was hoping I could find a niche where I could help youngsters learn about and enjoy being on the river. The Maritime Center fills both for me!

I was looking for a volunteer effort which would generate significant impact for our children and community. The Capital Region Maritime Center was just the ticket. Being a part of the CRMC provides the rewards of watching and working towards unrestricted goals in social and maritime education.

CRMC is a phenomenal organization that has helped bring the waterways into the forefront of the public's eye with the Erie Canalway Experience. This trip provides an historic viewpoint by both land and water to all that wish to experience the rich history of the area.
There are boat-building classes available at the center and it is a beautiful place to visit. I highly recommend visiting the CRMC to see for yourself.

CRMC is a fantastic organization dedicated to educating the general public about the importance our waterways have played in building our country. It also offers programming for youth who need assistance in science and mathematics through an innovative boat building program where youth learn valuable knowledge and skills that will better prepare them for college and the workforce. Moreover, it introduces a unique perspective on American history to visitors through informative guides and tours.
