CanSupport helped us out when my mother was ill post her cancer treatment. They were very professional and also persistent in making sure they visited us. Three people came over - a nurse, a doctor and a psychologist - for each visit. Great organization.
Cansupport is a testimony to the fact that the members of this organisation have truly made a difference in alleviating the pain of the cancer patients and their families. I had an opportunity to work in this organisation and the one to one interaction with the patients and their family members was a very humbling experience....
Having been a teacher all throughout,I have always wanted to help and interact with children. This urge took me to many orphanages in my spare time in many parts of the world.Once we came to Delhi,I told many people of my wish and by then had decided that I would not work.Yes,I now had all the time and wanted to involve myself for a good cause.Through one of my friends,I came to know about CanSupport and very shortly I ended up going for their Interview for Volunteers.Though they require volunteers, they are particular about people who work there and thats how they have a wonderful team of very committed people-so caring,so warm and so humane.Everytime I go there,I end up appreciating more and more and thanks to them am learning to Give with a smile to the patients who come there(not money but an ear to listen to their pain, a heart which understands their problems of everyday life,a smile that says"I am with you".I marvel their courage to face cancer day in and day out and this has been possible by the wonderful team of committed workers who have gone thr this themselves.I salute them.
I have known CanSupport and their dedicated staff for many years. Being a photographer I went with the Cansupport team and visited many homes to document patients in terminal cancer cases and meet with their families to bring solaceand advice in how to care for such patients. It was heart-wrenching but commendable work. We put up a photo exhibition at the British Council, Newe Delhi to bring more awareness and raise funds. The team really needsmore support and more funds to continue their work.
I am Dr.Lingegowda.K.B. Professor and Head. Dept of Palliative Medicine, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore, India, happy to share about the activity of Cansupport for the Cancer patients of Delhi and surrounding places. The most important thing which can be given is care when there is no cure, which is being given by the Cansupport group for the cancer afflicted patients. Specially the awareness programmes conducted by Cansupport to create the awareness of Palliative care for common public is reaaly great. I wish them success. dr.Lingegowda.K.B Professor and Head Dept of Palliative medicine Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology Bangalore 560 029 India Mobile. 00 91 9845226581
I would like to support CanSupport's entry for the 2009 InDiya Shine Awards. I am Chief Executive of St Christopher's Hospice, Founded by Dame Cicely Saunders in 1967 and widely recognised as the forerunner of the hospice novement. I have done some training for CanSupport and have been on home visits in Delhi with their nurses. The programme is outstanding. They have highly skilled staff and an excellent volunteer programme. Their Day Care is creative. They offer outstanding support to a varied patient population, including some of the most deprived and vulnerable.
I am working with can support non profit organization.I met Hermala the president of this organization 11 years ago. Its an excellant group working for the cancer patients. Especialy the poor and the oppressed people.I have been lucky to the part of this organization for the past 11 Years.
As a journalist, I have covered several non-profit organizations. But Harmala Gupta and her CanSupport come to my mind the foremost when I think of serious dedication and service to the people. It has, what we perceive – the human touch! The organization has been working for social betterment, free of political affiliations and religio-political burdens. I can vouch that CanSupport has benefited several thousand people directly or indirectly. Aware that the problem is not just in implementing it in a different mould, CanSupport has made a difference by changing the entire perception of reaching out to the cancer patients. The level of ideas and beliefs flowing through this organization are simply amazing. It breaks the formal barriers and approaches the people directly. Seen in terms of finances or recognition, the returns are minimal. But that has never been a hindrance for this organization. It only takes into account the genuine concern for the sufferers. Wishing CanSupport all the success.
My experience with Can Support has been really very good.I have had a very close interaction with the team. I am amazed with their honest dedication to the cancer patients.Their visits are so regular. The councellors ,doctors and the matrons give regular advice to the patients and the patients really look forward to the weekly visits. The geniune affections showered to the patients and their family members is amazing. Doctor Minoo and her team took care of my aunt at 27/169 Vikram Vihar,Lajpat Nagar -iv,New Delhi from Aug2005 toJune 2006.My family and self will ever remain indebted to the Can Support Team for their support.
I am a very skeptical person when it comes to the funding for organizations so before I got involved with this one. I did my due diligence of checking it out to make sure about the work they were doing and their integrity as an organization. I got involve because I was impressed. It is impressive to see how they manage to do so much with such limited resources. How they are so consious about how the many is spent. The benefit that people recieve from the services of this organization. It is a privilage to helped them.
It is a simple task to praise someone because you were in a similar mess. I participate in many NGO's and run a few myself hence my observation is critical. CanSupport, which takes it character from the founder Harmala Gupta, is a unique module of selfless giving. I cannot draw an equal which matches the relief that it most genuinely brings to countless souls. Cansupport has engaged innovative ideas for fund raising which also make the masses aware of the gravity of illnesses. Its vision of the future and brain-storming sessions illustrate the transparency of operations and desire to spread its wings to duplicate the good to reach wider areas. Every award and recognition is recommended to strengthen the light CanSupport has become in its most successful struggle with darkness.
I have been a donor to CanSupport , since a long time now. And each donor report I have received , inspires me even more to make sure I donate on time.Whatever little I contribute , CanSupport has made me feel great about it.I take this opportunity to thank CanSupport.
This charity is a shining example of what a group of devoted people can achieve. It combines efficiency and effectiveness with an exceptional personal touch. I have been fortunate in only experiencing it on the fund-raising side, but I was impressed enough with their achievements to offer them what help I could, in the form of free use of my photographs for their fund-raising cards and calendars, and in small but regular financial contributions. My favourite charity.
Being with CanSupport has been an enriching experience to me, both personally and professionally. It has made me grow as a person and made me a better human being. I wish CanSupport all the best for its growth and thank it for making me a part of it.
I have worked with CanSupport and have been in touch with them till date. I have seen the staff, volunteer and the MC of Cansupport work towards providing care to all the patients suffering from terminal illness. Care givers and voulnteers at CanSupport are very empathetic and caring and been doing all this work with utmost loyalty. I wish everybody at Cansupport good luck. Anupauma Kotha Wanchoo
I had been in touch with cansupport off and on for the last 15 years;I knew of their work with those suffering from cancer and would refer anyone I knew who was suffering to them and they were helped with information, support and compassion. But the real impact happened when my mother suffered from leukemia and I turned to them for help .We had access to good medical treatment but it helped me enormously as a caregiver to be able to talk to a member of cansupport. I joined them as a volunteer and became a part of their support group for patients and caregivers .In the meetings I could see how people could bring their pain and fears and share them in a way they could not have done with their own families and how the empathy and compassion they received helped them to go through the dark times. After three years of fighting the illness bravely my mother's health declined ,and that is when I experiencec at firsr hand what the palliative care could do for someone who was nearing their end, The team was there to listen to my mothers smallest worry and did everything to comfort in her last days, by suggeting measures that would alleviate her discomfort. My mother was 84 years old and had prepared herself for the end ,yet the vists of the team their gentle and cheerful ways made her last days as easy as they could possibly be. I am still a volunteer at cansupport because I see such a wonderful spirit of loving and giving among all those who work there which reaches out to every one in need whether rich or poor.
I have worked with hospices all over the world--from Uganda to Israel and CanSupport is the best of the best. They are incredibly professional and coordinated, but also incredibly human-ly present, sharing their life experience and warmth and humanity in tough moments. They are always looking to improve as well. The staff are the best part of the organization.
i know cansupport from a funder's point of view, and i can say that their reports have been unfailing in their accountability and fairness to their performance. And froim visits to the field I could gather that the professional care of the staff has not cluded the heart energy which is the life blood of such an organisation.
A unique service for people at the end of life in Delhi - offering a model for palliative and end of life care that needs to be replicated across India. India should be proud that Cansupport is showcasing a method of caring for those most vulnerable in society - care for those at the end of life is surely a benchmark for a civilised and caring society. Cansupport has also regularly aimed to positively change attitudes to end of life care through its involvement with World Hospice and Palliative Care Day
Cansupport is a very creditable NGO that is totally dedicated to its cause. It uses the help and support it receives from its various donors in a most efficient and beneficial way that is helpful to its patients.
CanSupport is an inspirational charity run by an inspirational leader. The work that it does is of very great value for a group of people who otherwise would be left to suffer in isolation, anxiety, depression and pain. CanSupport also provides important support, both physical and mental to the families of those with cancer. CanSupport provides excellent communications on its activities for its supporters throughout the world
