Causes: Arts & Culture, Support
Mission: Cannonball is a non-profit, arts organization dedicated to supporting artists, innovative forms of cultural production, and education to advance critical discourse and understanding of contemporary art practice. Based in downtown miami, florida, cannonball's artist-centric values are mirrored in its experimental programs, resources, and opportunities that respond to the needs of today's artists and reflect our efforts to better understand the nuances and textures of south florida.
Programs: Legallink serves the legal needs of florida artists and small arts organizations with exceptional legal information, advice, and referrals necessary to protect themselves and their work.
residency program: open to local, national, and international artists, curators, and other cultural producers. The live/work residency program offers dedicated time, space, resources, and technical/administrative support to conduct research, produce new work, and engage the community about issues at stake in this region.
other programs: on a monthly basis, cannonball presents lectures, workshops, screenings, and performances by artists and other cultural producers. All of these programs are accessible and made available to the public free of charge. These programs are designed to introduce audience members to new ideas and new forms of cultural production happening globally, and to help raise the level of artistic discourse in miami. Program presenters include national and international artists, curators, critics/writers, and other thought leaders in the arts. In addition, cannonball participates in pulse art fair every year as part of miami art week in december. Cannonball commission an artist to create a new work of art to display in the fair, providing the artist with a wonderful opportunity to show new work to a large, international audience and to network with professional colleagues.
