adventures in learning - opportunity for seniors to grow, learn, and make friendships through classes planned & taught by seniors - classes offered 4 times a year with an average participation of 60 people
bakery goods distribution - volunteer drivers distribute expired bakery goods every friday to freeborn manor, stonehouse, park street, & rivers edge apartments for free - approximately 60 seniors benefit weekly
health & fitness program - variety of programs, services, and events on health related topics & issues aquatic therapy - cooperative program with saratoga inn for swimming health benefits grandparents in school - volunteer opportunities to work with the youth internet assistance & access - offers assistance & access to the internet back-up local transportation - volunteer drivers assist with local transportation needs elder network - cooperative program with elder network where seniors are trained as peer counselors to seniors foster grandparents/senior companions - co-sponsored with lutheran social services - volunteers are matched with special needs children/seniors & work with them 12-20 hours per week tax & health insurance counseling - co-sponsored with area agency on aging - volunteers assist with tax and insurance needs meals on wheels - schedule drivers in co-operation with three rivers community action medical transportation - co-ordinate drivers for medical needs both locally & regionally care & share foundation - provide leadership membership to maintain community room for area wide activities book buddies - seniors working with elementary children with their reading skills sr service providers - networking with public health nurses from the county, hospital, and 3 rivers to ensure up-to-date coverage & meeting of senior care needs service projects - seniors are making baby quilts, layettes, midwive kits, and bandage roll-ups to distribute internationally to countries in need congregational representatives - seniors from 20+ area churches act as liasons for the shepherd center jobs - helping seniors with re-entry or entry into the job market with quality career services ccic - co-ordinate community wide thanksgiving dinner, plus the monthly community table (a free dinner provided to seniors)
