I WAS NOT ABLE TO AFFORD ALL THE MEDICAL GARMENTS I NEEDED AFTER MY SURGERY AND MY INSURANCE DID NOT PAY FOR ANY THING I NEEDED SO I REACHED OUT TO THE CANCER SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR HELP BECAUSE OF THEM I WAS ABLE TO ORDER THE GARMENTS I NEEDED, SOME EXTRA FOOD AND GAS FOR ALL THE EXTRA VISITS TO MY CHEMO TREATMENTS, PT AND FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENTS I HAD TO GO TO. Causes: Cancer
Mission: We support cancer patients and their families, in vermont and northern new york in a time of extraordinary need, by providing financial assistance, underwriting counseling services, and acting as a resource during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
Programs: The cancer patient emergency fund is designed to assist with the financial needs of cancer patients who find themselves in financial crisis due to their illness. The emergency fund services include, but are not limited to: emergency food and shelter assistance, telephone and heating bills during time of crisis, transportation support if needed for care plan, medically appropriate supplies not covered by insurance, medications, and childcare to allow a parent to get cancer care. The patient can only use the fund once per year and the maximum benefit per patient is $500.
the mindfulness program is an 8 week workshop to provide mindfulness tools for health and wellness to help cope with the difficulties of illness, to support personal healing journey and to learn mind and body practices to reduce stress and anxiety.
