Mission: CanCare is a mighty community of survivors who lift up and inspire cancer patients and caregivers through one on one emotional support, empathy, and hope.
Results: As of 2018, 1,918 trained support volunteers with more than 75 different types of cancer; 35,519 individuals received personalized, one-on-one support; 172,161 visits to patients and families at our 27 medical partners’ facilities in Texas, Georgia and Colorado; 179,280 served with one-time listening support information and resources; 448,060 offered community education and support through outreach events; 800,000 lives touched throughout the past 25 years with CanCare’s key services including one-on-one support, hosptial visits, information and resources, and community education and support
Target demographics: Survivors of more than 75 different types of cancer and those battling cancer.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 3,418 people received personalized one-on-one support; 10,928 patient hospital visits by CanCare volunteers at our medical partners’ facilities; 14,247 people received one-time listening support, information & resources; 26,739 people were reached through outreach events; 61 new volunteers graduated from CanCare’s training sessions; 22 new hospital volunteers graduated from CanCare’s training sessions; 600+ currently active support volunteers; and 155+ Community
Geographic areas served: A network of trained volunteers including survivors, family members of survivors and medical professionals who provide emotional support, information and cancer related resources in Houston, TX, Atlanta GA, and Colorado Springs, CO.
