Mission: To provide, through a program of informal education, opportunities for youth to realize their potential and to function effectively as caring, self-directed individuals responsible to themselves and to others, and, as an organization, to seek to improve those conditions in society which effect youth.
Programs: The teen outreach program connects youth and young adults ages 12 to 21 throughout tacoma and pierce county who are experiencing homelessness to academic, social, health, and community resources. The program also strives to remove barriers - either actual or perceived - that prevent youth from becoming self-reliant, self-sufficient, productive adults. This is accomplished utilizing an approach that emphasizes outreach, service engagement, advocacy, referral, and on-going case management.
in the club program, school-age youth are led by adult volunteer teams who use national program materials to guide and mentor youth in small group settings. Camp fire clubs help youth build self-esteem, learn life skills and become responsible, concerned citizens who are active in their communities. A total of 378 people were served in the club program during 2014.
