Mission: The mission of camp blue skies is to offer camps to adults with developmental disabilities, enhancing their lives through recreation, socialization and life skills education.
Programs: The 2017 five-day/four night camp sessions took place in two locations: western north carolina (ymca camp harrison in boomer, nc), and near atlanta, georgia (camp twin lakes in rutledge, ga). Camps were leased for one-week programs in march and october. The website is maintained for camper sign-up and for recruitment of volunteers. There is extensive planning for camp sessions for adults with developmental disabilities. The georgia camp session was held march 13-17, 2017 and served 64 disabled adults with help from 64 volunteers. A second camp session was added in 2017 in georgia to serve adults with williams syndrome. This session was held march 21-24, 2017 and served 42 adults with williams syndrome with help from 40 volunteers. The first north carolina session was held september 30-october 4, 2017 and served 49 disabled adults with help from 71 volunteers. The second north carolina session was held october 7-11, 2017 and served 65 disabled adults with help from 83 volunteers.
