Mission: Mission statement: "the mission of california transplant services, inc. Is to act as a responsible steward on behalf of our community of anatomical donations that are gifted for transplant and research; gifts that are given selflessly by very special people so others may enjoy a longer and better quality of life. " cts provides program services as a non-profit eye and tissue bank, and autologous tissue preservation and storage facility for our local community and the greater western united states.
Programs: 100% of program service revenue for 2014 was received from fees for services related to eye and tissue banking activities. Cts distributes ophthalmic tissues for cornea and other types of sight restorative surgeries. Ocular tissue distributed is processed by eye banks that are accredited members of the ebaa (eye bank association of america). Cts also distributes allograft bone, skin, tendons, and other musculoskeletal tissues for reconstructive and sports medicine surgeries. Bone tissue distributed by cts is recovered by qualified volunteer tissue donors, processed by tissue banks that are accredited members of the aatb (american association of tissue banks), and registered with the fda. Cts is a national repository of autologous cranial bone flaps recovered from living patients. Cts provides materials and surgical kits to participating hospitals; including in-service staff training, documentation, processing, long term cryogenic storage, and inter-facility transportation in validated containers. The tissue is recovered and stored for re-implantation into the same patients. Cts also provides contract storage of allograft tissue for regional hospitals that are not licensed to store tissue with the state of california or registered with the fda as a tissue storage location. Cts is registered with and subject to the regulatory authority of the fda for the distribution and storage of human allograft tissue. Cts is licensed as a tissue bank by the state of california, is a member of the ebaa and is an accredited institutional member of the aatb.
