Mission: Advocating for more equitable, inclusive and prosperous communities where bicycling helps people to lead more joyful and healthy lives.
Programs: Complete streets we pushed caltrans to adopt a policy to include bicycle, pedestrian and transit improvements in any street project. We polled 600 californians about their desire for safer streets and learned that 8 in 10 voters want local and state transportation departments to adopt a policy to require safety improvements when repaving streets. We organized youth to tell their stories and coordinated with several state-level partners.
increased funding for bicycle infrastructure we advocated for additional funding for bicycle infrastructure through allocations in many programs including the active transportation program, urban greening, affordable housing & sustainable communities, transformative climate communities program, low carbon transportation fund investments, air quality improvement program, highway safety improvement program, and the california department of public health. In every program we worked to ensure that the disadvantaged communities who most need support for active transportation are the ones who receive it.
we engage regularly with state agencies including the department of motor vehicles, the office of traffic safety, the california highway patrol, and most extensively with caltrans where we participate as committee member on the steering committee of the california state bicycle and pedestrian plan, the california bicycle advisory committee, and the active transportation and livable communities working group; and by direct meetings and communications with officials encouraging more bike-friendly decisions and practices.
