Mission: California Hands & Voices is dedicated to supporting families with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a respectful and non-judgmental manner regarding language opportunities, communication tools or educational approaches. We’re a parent-driven, non-profit organization providing families with the resources, networks, and information to improve communication access and educational outcomes for their children. Our outreach activities, parent/professional collaboration, and advocacy efforts are focused on enabling children who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing to reach their highest potential.
Results: About California Hands & Voices is a parent-led nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) children across California. We serve families from birth to age 26, inclusive of all communication modalities, educational settings, and technology choices. Our mission is to empower families through connection, education, and advocacy—meeting each family where they are and walking alongside them every step of the way. Target demographics: We help families of children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) by providing unbiased support, resources, education, and connection. Their goal is to ensure that every DHH child has the opportunity to thrive—regardless of their communication mode, technology use, or educational path.

Programs: Support for Families, Education & Advocacy, Community & Connection, Support for Professionals. California Hands & Voices helps families feel informed, empowered, and not alone in raising their Deaf or Hard of Hearing child—at every age and every stage. Programs We provide nonjudgmental, family-to-family support through the following core programs: Family Camps Weekend retreats that bring families together for connection, workshops, and recreational activities. ASTra Educational advocacy to support families navigating special education systems. CARES CPRC Federally funded bilingual training and support for families of children with disabilities. Fostering Joy A national initiative that celebrates the strengths and joyful moments in raising DHH children. Parent Leadership Development – Training and mentoring parents to become advocates and leaders in their communities. Our Children Safety Project | A statewide initiative focused on safety education, abuse prevention, and self-advocacy for DHH youth, with parent education and school collaboration. Our Impact Each year, we help families gain confidence, build community, and advocate effectively for their children. Through meaningful programs and trusted guidance, we are creating brighter futures for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children in California.
