Mission: To educate california youth and adults about the operations of local, state and federal government.
Programs: Program descriptionsthe california center's programs prepare youth to serve as catalysts for change in their communities and statewide. Participating youth attend local and statewide training, conduct community assessments, develop local projects, and present and advocate for a policy platform to local and statewide decision-makers. Our programs bring politics to life by connecting youth with current issues, decision-makers and the actual settings where decisions are made. Green focus is a year-long program that provides students with a look at californias environmental policy and green jobs. 60 benefitedcapitol focus brings together high school aged youth from around the state for a three-day course in californias political process. Current public issues are explored during sessions with professionals having different opinions. 65 benefitedour internship program offers internships for undergraduate and graduate level students. Interns research policy topics, write issue briefs, schedule speakers and assist with programs logistics. 360 benefitedwe provide logistical support for building healthy communities programs, a statewide ten-year project in fourteen california communities. 150 benefited.
