Camp was a great experience for me ! I had so much fun with the campers and I really enjoyed helping out and getting to know each and every one of them, as well as the teachers.

Camp University is a great place for adults with special needs. Working at CAMP has been a blessing. I’ve personally seen the impact this organization has on high school graduates. It gives them a safe space to continue staying active, socialize and have fun. Coming here is like having a second family. We need more places like CAMP!

This non profit organization truly moved me by the way they care so much for their campers and how they create a safe, comfortable space for them to learn, make connections and be apart of something meaningful. From the staff to the campers themselves, they are all so welcoming and grateful to be here, they love learning and spread kindness to those around them. It’s such a beautiful sight to see, and I’m very honored to make a difference in these individuals lives. This organization is truly making a difference for the community and offering a safe place for individuals to learn and grow.

My grandaughter attends classes there and enjoys it thoroughly. I highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a caring and loving place for their child. The teachers are lovely and the pupils just adore them. God bless C.A.M.P University...there are many happy students attending and learning there.

C.A.M.P. University is an amazing nonprofit organization. The teachers are so kind with the CAMPers and the office staff goes above and beyond to help where needed. You can tell that they are all devoted to their jobs and helping adults with special needs achieve their maximum potential.

I am an Occupational Therapy Assistant student at STC and I had the opportunity to complete my rotation at C.A.M.P U. This is such an amazing facility. The teachers offer great education and teach the campers the life skills needed to be independent. Many of the campers are so excited to be there and you can feel the excitement each time you walk in. I would definitely recommend!!

Absolutely phenomenal! The teachers and office workers truly love the campers! Every time I go and volunteer, I am reminded of how important this nonprofit organization is needed for adults with special needs! Truly a gift for our community that I wish continues to grow and prosper!

I’m a STC Intern from the occupational therapy assistant program. C.A.M.P University gives everyone a chance to be themselves and continue to learn essential life skills. The staff and camp counselors are very helpful in providing quality education and assistance to everyone who walks through the doors. This organization is unique and provides a great service to this community.

I did my level 1 fieldwork here at C.A.M.P University and it was the best experience I've had! The opportunities that are offered to individuals here are amazing. C.A.M.P. University is a great place to volunteer and I will definitely be coming back to offer my time and give back this facility. The front desk staff and teachers here are very welcoming and helpful. C.A.M.P University has been a significant part of South Texas College: Occupational Therapy Assistant Program students learning process in developing therapeutic use of self-skills. This has been a fantastic collaboration throughout the last six years. We have had the opportunity to get to know these outstanding individuals and develop activities focusing on life skills. The Staff and Campers are extremely friendly and welcoming to our students.

CAMP University is a great environment. I really do enjoy the the presence of the supervisors, volunteers and camp students because they are understanding, caring, attentive and etc. CAMP University has allowed to me to grow as a health professional and as a human being because it has helped me develop great skills, connections, and experience with my camp students. It is a place that help individuals feel excited, loved and cared for. It is a place that help individuals adapt to fun, creative, and learning skills. It is just a setting that brings joy to the supervisors and camp students as they interact. CAMP UNIVERSITY IS THE PLACE TO BE.

It is a really joyful experience to help with the 'Campers'. There is always someway to stay involved and feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. The students enjoy meeting new volunteers arriving to give service.

I have been at CAMP for about a month now as an intern, and I love it. It is a great environment for the campers to continue to learn and grow. The staff is very welcoming and the campers are all really nice. It has been an amazing learning experience, and I have been able to learn so much.

CAMP serves an un-remembered portion of special needs folks. They provide a critical service --and do it with much heart, often in the face on continuing challenges-- for adults who graduated high school from a special ed program. I think you couldn't find more caring teachers and administrators who truly are consistently invested in helping each of their students achieve their max potential.

First of all, you must know I was an intern, then teacher, and am a supporter of C.A.M.P. I had a wonderful experience there! I learned so much from the staff, administrators, and especially the students! I like how understanding and supportive the staff and students are. I love that you get to learn about each student and personally get to know them. With C.A.M.P.'s help I was able to advance my own learning about students --and special needs students in particular-- and that is a blessing for my life! One thing I'll walk away with is that, at C.A.M.P., serving as a teacher, I learned from THEM as much as they learned from me.

I first became involved with C.A.M.P. University during my fall internship for my college practicum hours. I had never heard of the organization before and I was amazed at what I saw. C.A.M.P. is a program where young adults with special needs can continue on developing life and social skills as well as explore interests like sports, music, and art. It is a place where the students feel loved, welcomed, and included and get to continue to build friendships and relationships with others in the communities after high school. Many of the activities done focus on keeping the students active socially, mentally, and physically. Aside from math, writing, etc., many of the activities include outings, social scenarios, fine and gross motor skills, personal hygiene, and even cooking. These activities allow the students the opportunity to learn and become independent. All of this and more is supported by a loving, dedicated staff that go above and beyond when working and planning. Within my time at C.A.M.P. I have been able to see the students (CAMPers) grow and the love they have for their friends, staff, and C.A.M.P.

I have had the pleasure of knowing CAMP University for several years. As the Director of Children's Ministry at FUMC in McAllen, I have been able to spend time with the CAMPers during our Missions and Music Camp, gathering our children and the CAMPers for an afternoon of sharing a meal, games, dancing and fun! What a blessing CAMP U is for their CAMPers and for others as we seek to live out God's plan that all are equal, seen, valued, and loved. This fall it has been such a treat for me to get to share lessons and music with CAMP U through ZOOM. Each time I get to connect with these awesome people is a tremendous joy!

I first volunteered with C.A.M.P. University in the fall of 2017. I had never heard about C.A.M.P. University before, but my college required some practicum hours in order to graduate. I walked in and it was different. This was a place dedicated to those with special needs, that is when it occurred to me; after high school you never see the students from the special education unit or hear about what they are up to. You always hear about high school reunions, but none of them involve a student with a disability. The founders of C.A.M.P. University knew this and created a solution, a non-profit that will keep students with special needs in contact with peers and others within the community. Here at C.A.M.P. University special needs graduates can continue learning skills that will provide them opportunities that once seemed to end after high school. C.A.M.P. University focuses on the execution of activities with the students that will allow them to potentially lead independent lives. Activities include social outings, grocery shopping trips, cooking activities, social skills, vocational training and many more. Volunteering at C.A.M.P. University has really allowed me to see that everyone can reach their maximum potential.

The staff care so greatly for their clients. They even take time after hours to research how best to help clients with specific needs. They go above and beyond and will also work with parents to help them find new resources or work though specific issues. The tuition is extremely doable and might even be the lowest in the state compared to other day habilitations. The office staff works so hard to make sure that things are always done right and are mission focused. They maintain good relationships with donors and keep them informed about all aspects of the organization. This has built a lot of trust in the community. This is an invaluable organization with a wonderful person centered approach to care, excellent leadership, and an innovative mindset. They have helped families from all over the Rio Grande Valley and have done a great job of working with other nonprofits and advocates in the area to expand their reach and do the most good for this very special population. I love the joy and hope this organization provides.

I believe C.A.M.P. University is the best place that special needs adults can be in the Rio Grande Valley. The activities and lessons are always wonderful. Staff is friendly and attentive. Most importantly, students (CAMPers) are happy and enjoying themselves while learning, exploring, discovering, and being productive members of the community.
