Mission: The purpose of by the river is to provide affordable housing in a sustainable manner for economically challenged elderly persons of diversity in a community atmosphere. By the river aims to secure the freedom of its residents to make independent decisions about care, to enjoy dignity and privacy and to celebrate their faith according to their own traditions. By the river empowers staff members with the training and support they need to provide compassionate care to its residents.
Programs: The organization operates a forty-one bed independent living facility with shared dining and community rooms. Its purpose is to be a service-driven, community-based project that encourages its residents to participate in service projects of their own as well as participate in intergenerational programs that bring the youth of the community together with the elders.
