Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Child Day Care, Children & Youth

Mission: Butler county children's center, inc. 's mission is to provide a variety of children's programs and quality services designed to meet the comprehensive needs of families.

Programs: In november 2016 the new federal head start performance standards went into effect. These new standards forced us to change and clarify policies and procedures related to unexcused absences, data management, parent involvement, and extended duration of classroom operation. In 2016-17 we received more monies to extend the classroom duration in three (3) classrooms at our bon air location. We reapplied for 30 state head start slots and were successful. We have continued to collect data on child outcomes and all the data can be found on our annual report posted to our website. With the addition of classrooms at connoquenessing valley elementary and shenango elementary effective july 1, 2017, we now have 5 quality pre k count classrooms with a total capacity of 87 children pre k counts is funded by the state of pa through the office of child development and early learning.

annual review by pa ocdel indicated that the ccis of butler county successfully met the 2016-17 performance standards and objectives. Increased the number of on-line provider's participating in self-service/attendance/invoicing process in the pelican state system. Educating our friend/neighbor providers about the benefits of becoming certified daycares. Educating our clients and providers on the keystone stars program and quality rating system. Increased provider payments of add-on rates for certified daycares who attained certain keystone stars rating levels. Continuing our resource and referral process of informing the community of all ocdel early learning services available to assist families in need.

we have continued with our collaboration with butler human services to provide the drop-in child care program. This program helps parents with child care that are seeking mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, or who are seeking employment. The child care center at bon air has continued to make several capital improvements in an effort to provide a healthier and more friendly environment for the children and families we serve.
