Mission: Fires and the risk of traumatic burn injury literally affect everyone - from wildfires to fire/burn risks at work and at home. Since 1972, the Burn Institute has served and supported burn survivors and their families (San Diego and Imperial Valley) to recover and prosper with a broad range of programs and services (e.g., counseling, support groups, retreats, etc.) We provide extensive fire and burn prevention education and resources to thousands annually. From ‘Fire Safe Kids’ to ‘Fire Safe Seniors’, we serve our entire community. Our work reduces injuries, saves lives, and protects our communities. Our services are only possible thanks to the support of our community (philanthropic, private sector, individual giving). Our team of 12 is small but mighty! Our volunteer board (15 members) is comprised of community leaders. We partner closely with all fire departments and Fire Chiefs and the UCSD Burn Center. The Burn Institute is a nationally recognized leader in its field. We are a nonprofit public benefit 501c3. EIN: 23-7260718
