This wrestling club is top-notch because of the attitude displayed and taught by the coaches. There are some things more important than winning, especially for boys and girls in the 5-10 year range, and other coaches/teams seem to forget this at times. The Bulldogs are taught things like sportsmanship, respect for others and for the rules, support for your teammates, and hard work is required to improve. I have been involved with this sport for almost 50 years, and more training of young adults to be good citizens is needed. This sport can provide it. Some of these children may go on to become state champions, but all of them can learn what "character" is.

I have been involved with wrestling since the grandparents of these kids were this age, with the last 25 years officiating youth tournaments. We have a lot of dedicated coaches in our area, but none match the coaching staff of this club. Brian Pyck now coaches the HS team, but cut his teeth coaching youth wrestlers when he was still in college. Wherever he goes, he attracts hordes of kids to his teams when other teams have trouble maintaining enrollment. This is because he views his team members as kids first and wrestlers second. His main goal is to help them develop as human being, and if they want to win tournaments, he can help them do this too. Having fun at practice, learning to work hard to achieve a goal, overcoming diversity, cooperating with others who are not like you, and staying in school & out of trouble are just some of the character-building attributes important on his teams. When a young wrestler joins this team, he/she will find purpose and mentoring, regardless of what background or history he/she brings to the door.
This program is truly a blessing to be a part of. My daughter has wrestled for two years with them now and is always advancing her knowledge and I look forward to my son wrestling along side the coaches next year.
I am the head coach of this youth program and the greatest experience I have discovered are working with so many children that have disabilities. The amount the children grow over the year is amazing! My main goal with the club is for the children to have fun. As the season passes I see kids who came in the first day of practice not knowing any wrestling or anyone else in the room. By the end of the season they already had competition and has made countless friends. I have posted a couple of pictures of the team and kids that will be participating in the state championship!
