The Building Biology Institute is doing critical work educating environmental consultants and health care practitioners on how to spot and remediate a range of environmental problems. So many people are sick and don't realize the sources of imbalance are off-gassing chemicals from their furniture, or kitchen cabinets, for example, or from mold, or formaldehyde, or wiring errors, or biologically-disruptive wireless devices they are using. People trained at the Building Biology Institute are filling an urgent need to empower patients to find and eliminate the environmental roots of illness, something that, at least at present, doctors for the most part are not trained to do. Thank goodness there are organizations like this, and caring professionals wanting to truly make a difference in peoples lives, who in some cases even save lives. Please help this worthy organization meet the growing demand for this kind of education so more professional level environmental consultants and MDs can be available to serve those in need.

So I stood firm to not paying a $350 commuter fee at Kanuga lodge in North Carolina which didn't go over well with Building Biology Institute, O well! I wasn’t even staying at that lodge. Class was scheduled for the week of April 15th 2024 which I attended. When I arrived I was immediately talked to about this. I was asked to remove a review I left for Kanuga but after thinking about it I decided not to plus I felt it necessary to leave this review of BBI. I attended a class last Dec 2023 and it was great. Today’s class was held by an instructor from Canada who felt that while he was visiting America, felt entitled to humiliate me in class in my country which I fought for, not a good choice. I told Diane that they lost big time by having this idiot do this to me because I was planning on making a $100,000.00 donation very soon, not now, they’re loss! They are doing good things the problem there is zero business opportunities with this education because know one believes any of this BS. Just save your money and try to live a healthy life and you will be fine.

The leadership, faculty, practitioners and volunteers in this organizatioin are filling a huge gap in what is needed in our world today. Look into this organization for a path to dealing with some of the challenges we all face in our housing and living spaces. More comprehensive than 'Green Building', this organization will provide you with the information on how to achieve a health supporting living environment through design, building materials, Indoor environmental quality, and EMFreduction.

Sadly, even though I am certified I have the following criticisms.

The process takes a very long time (over a year) to complete and is very expensive. (class costs, travel, lodging and other expense can exceed between $10,000 to $20,000)
There is minimal support post certification. They say they do but in reality they don't.
The equipment required to do a good survey is very expensive, but that information is left out and the student finds out they cannot afford this type of equipment after the class is over. It is over $10,000.
The courses are inadequate from a technical standpoint. It seems the student is left with the impression that all they need to do is plug in a Setzer or Green Wave meter and wave around a Gigahertz meter inside a house and use those values to determine a course of action. This is very deceptive to the client and the student, there is a lot left out.
It seems the instructors are well meaning and very skilled but they also suffer from a content of the course they teach which is lacking.
The lab exercises are minimal at best. I cannot imagine anyone doing these labs to obtain useful knowledge.
There something weird about how the board of directors operate, they have no published processes and procedures on how they do things. It all seems very arbitrary and left to the personal preference of the board members. There is very limited logic or reasoning for how they make decisions.
There are members of the Board of Directors using the Building Biology copyrights on their personal web sites and at the best of my knowledge have no letter of permission from the board to use these copyrights. Yet at the same time the board has announced they will discipline anyone referring to any product in meetings used in surveys if even discussed on a call. If this is the process then they should never refer to anyone's equipment, such as Gigahertz, Setzer, green wave or what ever in the labs or course materials. Since they do not specify what can be mentioned or not mentioned everyone is afraid to say anything on a call. So sharing what works for you that may help others in the field has to be muzzled.

Students undertaking our Professional Certification Tracks are made very aware that equipment for assessments varies widely in price and we provide them with guidance for which devices might be suitable for their needs. Our hands-on training is more comprehensive than any “like-minded” training in North America and on par with our partner institute in Germany (IBN). As evidence of this we have trained students who travelled 3 to 5 times to our venue for 5-day seminars from 19 overseas nations. Our board of directors prides themselves on transparency by 1) publishing their monthly board meeting minutes and their Policies & Stipulations on our website. Further, our board members have our permission to publish our copyrighted materials on their own websites. Lastly, we invite our students and alumni, whether they agree or disagree with “Buzzer” to post their commentary alongside those of “Buzzer”.

BBI is a fantastic organization that is more needed than ever. More and more people are dealing with chronic health challenges that are stemming from their environment, yet, the conventional medical system has not caught up with this. These people go through the wringer trying to understand why they're ill, spending thousands and thousands of dollars on medications, diagnostic tests, supplements, therapies, etc. If only someone had looked inside their home in the beginning.

This is what BBI does, it trains professionals to identify how buildings may be contributing to the occupant's health or lack thereof. This is an incredibly important mission. As a practitioner myself, I have been able to help countless people back to health after understanding the issues inside their homes. I am so grateful for the learning, supportive community, and continued education provided by the Institute. I highly recommend BBI.

BBI literally changed my life. Early coursework led me to change my career and dedicate myself to helping others achieve more health-supporting indoor environments. I'm so grateful for this non-profit, and I'm glad to be able to give back however I can in the hopes that they touch more people and continue to tip the scales toward a more healthy and just planet for all.

The reality is that BBI is a voice of reason and sanity in a world of human structures built in the 20th century with ideas and products that, while convenient and economical, science only later discovered to be dangerously toxic and deleterious to human health.

It is literally a human survival imperative that we dismantle, reinvent, and rebuild almost all human products and systems from the 20th century that pervade us today, starting with food, clothing, and shelter. BBI has the shelter covered; BBI should be setting the world standard for all construction going forward.

Colleagues of mine pestered me to get involved with this group for a long time. I was very skeptical that they could offer anything new or useful for me and distrusting of any groups/organizations based on past experiences, and thought that it would be a waste of my time. I couldn't have been more wrong. When I attended courses, met the volunteers and the other students that make it all possible - I was absolutely blown away! If you're into natural health, wellness, organic living, and environmental responsibility...this is the organization to be a part of.

There are so many people doing so much work on a volunteer basis all for the same goal. The group is run extremely well, everyone gets along and really cares and wants to make a difference in the world. Simply the best group of people I've ever encountered in my life. I was drawn in immediately and have wanted to help and be a part of it ever since!

This Institute (IBE) has an extraordinarily important role to play in educating the public about the critical role that buildings have in human health. IBE is the only place I know of where all the information concerning creating health supporting buildings is collected for the public. I became concerned about the indoor environment in 1987 when both wife and I were made environmentally ill by our home and work environments. I found out about IBE in 1988 through a magazine ad. IBE was the answer to my prayers. The Institute provided the information I need to realize that our home was poisoning us with electromagnetic radiation and with chemicals from defective building materials. And it provided the information needed to correct the problems. My life would not be the same without IBE.

Volunteer position with the institute to to help oversee the on-line courses & in-person seminars. I help with editing, proof reading & course content. I also am part of a committee to plan future seminars for graduated & returning consultants so they can re-certify their standings with the institute. The main goal of the institute is to educate the public on the health impact o the built environment & what to do about it.

Bau-Biology is about the study of healthy buildings and about the relationship between our bodies and our built environment. Coming over from Germany over 20 years ago, translated as “Building Biology”, this non-profit organization is dedicated to educating and informing those searching for healthy living practices. The Institute trains and certifies Bau-Biologie Environmental Consultants to practice the 25 Principles of healthy living spaces, which include indoor air quality, electro-magnetic fields, healthy building materials and furnishings in a holistic view with Mother Nature as the ultimate guide. When I found Bau-Biology I knew I had discovered an organization with the broadest perspective yet on sustainable healthy environmental living practices, not just what is ‘green’ but what is HEALTHY for human bodies AND the planet. After completing the certification program, I became one of the many Building Biologists across the continent performing assessments of homes and work places, using advanced meters and measuring equipment. We are not just talking about what is green and healthy, we are revealing actual health hazards and exposures in specific living spaces, making the invisible visible. With this valuable information people have choices. This non-profit organization is uniquely poised to assist and educate the public, provide in-depth training for aligned professional fields, and assist health care practitioners by doing ‘the house calls’ to find sources of potential health hazards and reduce exposures to adults and especially to children. I highly recommend the educational coursework, online classes, and many dedicated professional Building Biologists in the field, all working toward empowering the general public with knowledge to improve our buildings, our homes, our communities and our health.

I came to the Institute of Bau Biologie back in the early days of its existence, having met and been taught by the founder. As a student of Feng Shui, I received invaluable information regarding keeping our homes and buildings green and ecologically sound. I received certification in a home study course and became an Environmentally Aware Feng Shui Practitioner. As a result, I have been able to assist and educate others to keep their homes green and safe healthwise. The information and work of the Institute of Bau Biologie is invaluable, increasing awareness and understanding.

To all, IBE has been a significant influence in my life in the last few years. I am a Naturopathic Doctor from Ontario, Canada and am now living and practicing with my family in Seattle, Washington. I began my association with IBE as a student in 2007 and attained my BBEC certification in 2008. I then joined the Board and served for approximately one and a half years. IBE is an exceptional learning institute with exceptional people associated with it. I cannot recommend it more highly! Caroline Bearss ND BBEC

IBE's mission is so vital that it's the only motivation I needed from Day One to fully embrace IBE's vision. With the world's attention turning (yet not nearly fully turned) to sustaining and healing our global environment, IBE stands alone in teaching both the public and working professionals to examine the indoor environment's potentially virulent impact on human health and wellness. Bravo, IBE! The countless people you educate and guide are the white knights of our children's future.
