I started volunteering at Broomfield FISH in 2015 and have since joined the board. During that time I've seen the organization grow to meet the needs of Broomfield residents.
Pre-COVID it offered a marketplace allowing clients to shop and choose food with dignity. When COVID hit they quickly adjusted to drive by pickup for food while seeing the need grow for both food adn rental assistance. The staff and volunteers showed an amazing ability to adapt to changing circumstances and serve their neighbors in need.
There are many great stories from Broomfield residents that have received assistance. One that I recall is during a government shutdown a couple were laid off and came to FISH for food. When their income was restored they returned and made a donation to FISH. That represents the organization and the community of Broomfield where we help each other when unexpected hard time hit.
Broomfield FISH has been a staple in the Broomfield community for many year. As someone who grew up in Broomfield, FISH has been there for my family in times of need by helping put food on the table. By far, one of my favorite all time organizations because of the commitment to serve others in need. From the top this organization leads with heart, I’m honored to be a part of it.
