I remember in 2008 when this program first came to my school. It revolutionized education for us through rallies, parties, performances, parades, football games and battle of the bands. I credit the Institute with its innovation in reaching the black community. This high quality offering, should be available in every school.

Mission: The Brooklyn Music & Leadership Institute stands as a pillar of support for the community in the form of a music and leadership program, to increase the longevity of marching bands, concert bands, and other music ensembles. The Institute is the first black philharmonic youth program, featuring black marching bands, dance lines, concert bands, percussion ensembles and leadership.
Results: Our programs have performed on stage at some the city's most prestigious venues. From Cipriani at Times Square to Madison Square Garden, Manhattan Center, to the US Open, Good Morning America and all of New York City's major parades. Our black bands and dancers have appeared in movies, commercials, documentaries and perform at block parties, and album release concerts, in addition to athletic events. On the football field, and in the competition arena, our marching band and dance programs have traversed the Northeast and Southern regions of the United States, winning a plethora of national and regional awards as New York City's High Stepping Show Band. Currently nearing our 18th year of operation, we provide high-quality programming to families, students and schools in New York City.
