BTO is so much more than an after-school program. It allows the youth to connect with peers, mentors, and themselves! The inclusive environment they create ensures every teen feels supported and valued. Activities offered include academic support, such as tutoring; recreational programs like sports, art, games, volunteer opportunities; and mental health services. BTO also gives back to the community through various ways including a free take-what-you-need pantry located directly outside. It truly is a one-stop shop for all needs.

BTO is an amazing place for youth to seek a safe space, find mentorship, counseling and fun! I know as a parent it is so nice for my daughter to have the option to go to BTO with out the worry of cost or having to sing my daughter up days prior to attending. I know she is safe and cared for until I can get there. Plus, there is always fun activities and food to snack on. We are very grateful for this space!
I'm so thankful to know that BTO is helping so many teens and the local community. We've partnered with them and their Executive Director a few times to create positive events for local teens and to help spread their mission. We believe in all that they are doing and hope more local families can experience this themselves!

The teen center is an amazing resource for teens across the Pittsburgh region, providing a space for teens to be themselves free of judgment in a post-COVID world. At Brookline Teen Outreach, kids are given the space to explore what it means to be a kid by trained staff tasked with making a difference.
In my time as an intern at Brookline Teen Outreach I've seen how meaningful the space is to the community. BTO provides teens with resources, connection, and job experience. I've also gained invaluable experience and connections with fellow interns.

Brookline is a great place for learning and for kids to come! i have learned so much here and it’s amazing to see the impact it has on the kids!
This place is amazing the staff there or so nice, they will be the best to listen with whatever I felt the need to say. This is a place with non-judgement people that I felt to be myself around whenever I became comfortable.
It’s a great place for kids to hang out. Staff are friendly and caring. Care about the well-being of the children and the staff.
The Brookline Teen Outreach is a great place for kids of all ages ranging from 10-17 to come together and “shut out the noise”. The Outreach offers free programming for all kids and free snacks/meal daily from Monday-Friday. They aim to be inclusive of all backgrounds and the kids safety, both physically and mentally, is the #1 priority. The center is staffed by masters level intern counselors as well as staff members who are also Professional Counselors who aim to serve and aid the teens within the space. They do a great job of getting involved within the greater Brookline community and setting that spark for the teenagers to become active in a positive light as well.
The staff are kind, compassionate and smart. It is a very inclusive atmosphere. This program could easily save a life of a young adult with its supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere.

This non-profit strives to be an integral part and heart of the community. During a recent community yard sale, t shirts were sold with logos from many of the old time businesses and so many people bought them and reminisced about the neighborhood. It was heartwarming. They offer the youth so much variety and fun and educational opportunities. It is an A-1 organization in my book.
They do such great work for the kids and community. Their leadership team, staff and interns are exceptional at what they do. It’s been an honor volunteering with and watching the organization grow over the years

The teen outreach program under scrutiny leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to effectiveness and cultural competence. One of the most glaring issues is the staff composition, which doesn't reflect the community's demographic makeup. This lack of diversity hampers the program's ability to connect with and appropriately address the needs and concerns of the community.
The program's exploitative use of images predominantly featuring children of color in promotional materials is concerning, especially since it seems ill-equipped to provide these children with essential skills to cope with challenges at home. Further, the program neglects to incorporate valuable parental input, missing an opportunity to enhance the children's experiences and align the program's approach with the community's needs.
Regrettably, some staff members exhibit inappropriate behavior on social media, casting doubt on male domestic abuse and encouraging divorce. This behavior, understandably, creates discomfort among the parents. Logistical concerns, such as dismissing teens without ensuring their safe transportation home, add to the growing list of issues that raise serious safety concerns.
The program's collaboration with the police for a foot race was not only mismanaged but also created an uncomfortable atmosphere, making children feel more like suspects than participants. What's more, the program's use of podcasts and social media to self-promote misses the mark entirely, and unintentionally contributes to an environment of exclusion. Instead of creating an inclusive atmosphere, the program seems to perpetuate a narrative of 'us versus them', which is alarmingly reminiscent of white supremacy ideologies.
The overall feeling is that the program, dominated by liberal white influences, seems out of touch with the community it intends to serve. These issues highlight the need for comprehensive reassessment and reform within the program, to ensure it better understands and serves its intended audience.
Brookline Teen Outreach (BTO) is a truly unique youth center - there is nothing else like it in Pittsburgh. There are a wide variety of programs, classes, and activities offered weekdays. Teens are fed and taught how to cook. Teens can do court ordered community service hours here as well, which is incredibly difficult to find for youth under 16.
Caitlyn (the founder) is well educated and highly qualified and just kind, passionate and creative. The staff is comprised of volunteers and bachelor or master college students in education, therapy, or social work.
All of these services, programs, and kindness are free of charge. BTO isn't just a teen center - it's a community hub with connections throughout the city.
The teen center is amazing miss, cait does an amazing job with the kids and teens. She provides a lot for the kids and takes them places and feeds them. My kids absolutely love going up there and tell me about how much fun they have and how the staff are so nice. Absolutely love the teen center.
BTO is such an asset to the community. It’s a great place for teens to hang out after school, bond with friends, and do all kinds of fun activities catered to them. Counselors and counseling interns are there for the kids to talk to, and the space is a safe place to be. I’m very grateful for BTO and I will continue to support it. Our community benefits from it greatly.
It's great place for the kids from 10-18 to hangout and interact after school. The staffs are enthusiastic about their job and very caring. They provide food and have workshop to help the development of the kids. The intention of the founders of this nonprofit is genuine and from the heart of hoping for learning and growing.
This place is amazing!! it is an amazing place for kids to come and hang out and have access to resources! cant praise this place enough.

Great organization that puts kids 10 to 18 first. Providing opportunities to try new things and expand their horizons. So glad to be part of this organization.
This organization's ongoing impact on the community cannot be overstated. Caitlin and her staff have worked tirelessly since 2015 to provide youth in Pittsburgh's Brookline neighborhood (and beyond) access to programming ranging from life skills and tutoring to licensed counseling. Better yet, they do so at no charge to parents and families in the area. I witnessed BTO continue serving the community via virtual-based programming during the COVID-19 pandemic, and even leverage the technology and learnings from this period to expand their outreach beyond it. It has been a privilege to watch this organization and their impact grow each year.

The BTO fills a significant gap in the South Hills community of Pittsburgh in offering a safe, fun, enriching space to youths in the area. And they continued to do so throughout COVID-19 as teens accessed the center's counseling resources more than ever before. The pivot to virtual-based programming in order to maintain its outreach mission showcased the BTO team's incredible commitment to the community. How exciting it has been to watch their impact grow year after year.
BTO provides a positive space for the youth of the community to thrive. They create a welcoming, accepting atmosphere that benefits the overall health and well-being of the teens and the community.
This NPO is the cornerstone of its neighborhood. Everything starts with the children and BTO nurtures our children and continues their academic studies in an extracurricular fashion. I cannot say enough how important BTO is to the Brookline community. Each and every Brookliner should be a fan of what the Teen Outreach does in our neighborhood.
BTO does such amazing work in the Brookline community, bringing together teens and adults in a safe and positive environment.
BTO is an incredible organization that promotes healthy relationships and talking about mental health. The mission of this organization is full of passion, dedication, and love. As a former intern at this organization, I grew so much as a person and a professional while working here. I've personally seen how the students who attend this program grow because they are given opportunities to explore new things and talk about hard issues they are facing. During COVID, when many organizations faced serious obstacles to serving the community, BTO was thriving and filling the needs of its students because of the dedication of the staff. This is an invaluable organization within the Pittsburgh community.
Brookline Teen Outreach is such an incredible asset to our South Hills communities. Between the art and STEM activities, their Adventure-based programming and specialized groups, there is truly something to meet the needs and interests of every teen that attends. Moreover, their use of counseling-based approaches with teen creates a genuine safe space for our youth to openly explore who they are, who they want to be and who they can be without judgement. Brookline Teen Outreach also offers an abundance of community resources, like free/low cost counseling, 24/7 free pantry and community outreach events that have made such an positive impact for Brookline, especially through the pandemic. I'm so grateful to have this amazing place in my neighborhood!
I am continually impressed with the dedication, clarity of mission, and authenticity of follow through demonstrated by the Brookline Teen Outreach leaders. They have carved out a space of safety and joy with intention for Brookline youth. This is extremely meaningful in increasing protective factors and improving outcomes within our community.
BTO is creating opportunities for teens to engage with healthy recreational activities, to try new hobbies and skills, access resources, and most importantly time to Be A Kid! I am grateful to witness and participate in this programming.
When we first moved to Brookline, we were turning the corner onto the Blvd and my kids immediately took notice of the teen outreach center! As a mom of 4, it was a place I definitely was going to check out! My teen beat me to it and gave me all the details about their after school programs. We set it up for her to attend. I quickly noticed a change in her. Not only was she thrilled to be meeting kids from the neighborhood she also was building positive relationships with the staff. She also is a huge crafter and they always have fabulous activities for the kids to choose from. I often pick her up after the program is over. While waiting in the car I love to watch the expressions of the kids faces while coming and going from the center. It is an oasis for kids in a world that often judged but doesn't seek to understand or engage. The center for sure is a diversity safe haven for all kids regardless of gender, race, identity and interests. My youngest son started tagging along recently and loves the sports and engagement with the other kids. The groups offered are important to my daughter and she finds comfort in having a safe place full of compassion to talk and express her thoughts. In addition to the after school programs my daughter also participates in the community outreach art group and the adventure trips. Both are wonderful ways for her to connect with the community both in Brookline and in Western PA. We are so blessed to have this special space for teens in our area. Thank you!
Thank you Brookline Teen Outreach for making such a difference in the community! So many teens now have a positive, safe, and uplifting place to come to--the staff is welcoming and talented in knowing just how to approach teens in a way that engages them and respects their needs and dreams. I hear so often from adults in the community that they wish a place like this had existed when they were growing up!
This is a great non profit. It fulfills a very important need in the south hills of Pittsburgh. Providing students with a safe place and a meal every day is critical to growing up. I love everything they do. Students get help with homework, learn how to cook, have opportunities for counseling, and can participate in special groups such as girls group and an LGTBQIA+ group.
While Brookline Teen Outreach has been doing amazing things for both kids AND the community for years, I would like to highlight how they have SUCCESSFULLY continued executing on their mission in the face of the pandemic as very few other organizations and businesses have. For example:
1. As soon as after school programs were closed by the government, the BTO staff initiated telephone outreach to both the kids and their families to see how the were doing and to help them to remain connected and engaged.
2. As soon as they were permitted to do so, BTO re-establishing socially distanced programming and activities on the sidewalk in front of the building on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.
3. Separately, BTO also initiated monthly Meet-Ups on Saturday afternoon to extend both programming and activities and also add an energizing, celebratory, street fair vibe with things like cotton candy, etc.
4. Finally, throughout these engagements, BTO has continued to provide complete meals to the kids in an individually packaged, take home mode.
As you are aware, many organizations and businesses are struggling with how to move forward and an increasing number are simply “throwing in the towel”. Brookline Teen Outreach is a very visible example of resilience and how to adjust and continue to flourish…WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT….
BTO has gone above and beyond to keep the kids engaged during Covid restrictions. The team has worked hard to maintain relationships with the teens during this time!
BTO is such a fun and positive environment for both the kids and the staff. Every day brings something new and exciting!
I have been a volunteer at Brookline Teen Outreach and have seen firsthand how much they do for the children and the community! They are unique in their approach of thinking outside the box to reach as many people in need in various different ways. Also, BTO tries to help people regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances. I have seen kids grow in many ways through consistent caring and showing them that we are there for them no matter what. I think there is a staff member that each child can connect with and we try to promote creativity and individuality across the board in order for everyone to grow!
My son and I have been involved with the BTO for 2 years now. Myself as a volunteer and my son as a teen who gets to enjoy his evenings there. It is a great resource for the kids of the neighborhood. It reallys gives them a safe, fun place to spend time after school. I am grateful to be involved.
I grew up in Brookline. When I learned of the work this nonprofit was doing to make a tangible impact in the community to help kids with growth and development experiences and provide positive support in a safe environment then I reached out to the director to become involved as a Board member to demonstrate to the kids in the programs that they can become whatever they are willing to work hard for in life. It has truly been a great journey to work with such talented and diverse board members and the leadership is inspiring.
It was a really great and memorable experience. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming. They are very clean and following covid19 procedures well.
Brookline Teen Outreach truly goes above and beyond to understand and meet the needs of teens and their families within the community. Our director Caitlin and all who are involved with the center truly capture the spirit of the mission both at and away from the center. There are so many valuable opportunities and resources available within BTO that make it an essential asset to the community.
BTO is an amazing organization! They are meeting the needs of teens in the community in an amazing way - meeting them right where they are at with compassion and support. Their services are holistic, high quality, and incredibly comprehensive. This community is a better place because of places like BTO!
This summer I had teens from the Brookline Teen Center come visit my new ministry at St Mark’s Lutheran Church. They were wonderful! The enthusiasm in working with those young people was apparent. I look forward to having them return this fall.
Brookline Teen Outreach is doing wonderful things for the local kids. It always looks cheerful and they are forever participati g in community events! We are truely blessed to have them here! Can't wiat for my kids to get older so they can participate in their activities!
They really helped my preteen daughter socialize so much better. She's been through a considerable amount of trauma and had problems connecting but they've helped her come out of her shell and make some great friends.
I am amazed by all the good work you do. You support the community and the community supports you! Perfect! You are helping a lot of kids and therefore helping their families as well. Keep going strong
This is a GREAT place for our community. It is a safe haven for kids to come hang out and learn self help skills they will use in real life. There are many different activities that go on up there. I know my son LOVES going there. Thank you for everything you guys do for our children!!!
Working together as a team helps change the lives of teenagers. The do amazing work at Brookline Teen Outreach.

What an awesome program! Helping kids choose positive life choices. Leading by example. Kudos to everyone involved to make this happen!!!
I have been working with Caitlin McNulty and Diana Fischerkeller for almost 3 years now, and Brookline Teen Outreach is a phenomenal environment. I could not ask for better bosses/colleagues, and there are diverse opportunities in which to serve.
Brookline Teen Outreach is all about building and fostering relationships. Relationships with youths, with neighbors, with other community organizations, with those who need help. Relationship says, “I know I can depend on you when I need you. I know you really care about me”. Sometimes it’s communicated through a youth who has been struggling and reaches out to a trusted staff member to get connected with counseling. It’s a youth who feels safe enough to be vulnerable and learn a new skill or to be challenged to step out of his/her comfort zone. It’s compassionate and professional adults modeling healthy interpersonal skills and safe coping strategies. We are working to build a better Brookline, and a better future, one relationship at a time.
It’s an amazing organization that has found its perfect place in the community. They offer great adaptive programming and a “go to” place for teens and families.
Brookline teen outreach is a great nonprofit that provides teens in the community with great resources, volunteer opportunities, and after school programs.

I went for a talent night fundraising show and I was amazed at all the activities available for the teens of the community and beyond. Very caring environment which is needed in this age of horrific events.
We were very impressed with the babysitting offered by the center during a community event. It allowed parents to support local businesses while enjoying a few hours out.
I look forward to when my young children can use the center as teens.
Wonderful program!
Great partnership with community and school. Positive role models for teens who attend. Available to work hand in hand in all capacity. Can’t say enough about them!
With the Current climate it is imperative that we have such great programs like these for our youth and offer them a safe haven network where they are included and can get support!
Keep up the good work
Thank you

Brookline Teen Outreach has been critical to our Community. This non-profit is essential to our children's quality of life, not only because of the valuable programs they provide, but also because of the positive economic impact within our area.
It's a great safe place for young people to gather, learn, experience, and be productive. The staff is so caring and the place is centralized and easy to get to with/without public transportation. A great asset for the community!
Wonderful place for teens to use as a resource in the community. My son completed his eagle scout project there with Caitlin and staff. O couldn't say enough kind things about this program and staff and so pleased they are in our community.
Brookline Teen Outreach is a very holistic non-profit. From growing produce in a therapeutic garden, to teaching the kids how to cook the food they grew, and using that food for the meals, and to donate it to the Local Food Bank. I believe this one small portion of the Non-profit alone really demonstrates the full circle of positive energy that the Teen Center brings to the community. Therapeutic growing, Learning to Cook, Community Service all in one activity. The Teen Outreach has many more facets, such as compassionate counseling for all ages and income levels, STEM programming, tutoring, learning how to apply for student loans, and many other things.
I have had the opportunity to volunteer along side the staff & teens to help clean up the neighborhood, tend gardens & paint a mural over graffiti. Their energy and positive outlook is refreshingly welcome! I am excited about the work & guidance this organization brings to our young people, this is why I am proud to donate to BTO. Thank you!
Brookline Teen Outreach is a phenomenal organization and asset to the South Pittsburgh community. I had an opportunity to work with them in a professional setting and observe the interaction between staff and the young clients- I could not be more impressed!
There is nothing like knowing there is a safe place for young people to go to in the community. That some one has the desire and will put forth the kind of energy that it takes to run such a place is priceless to all who care about youth. Congratulations and continue good luck and growth.
I've found someplace to finally relax with people I love. The Brookline Teen Outreach consists of amazing adults who are always here for the teens, from Counseling sessions to a Writing group. Truly, i have grown very fond and proud of this place.
Many communities wish they had a place for their kids to gather for fun activities and community involvement that keeps them occupied and out of trouble. Brookline is blessed with just such a place. The kids - my son included - love to be there and their lives are being enriched along with the community because of their presence. 5 stars!
It is an amazing organization that helps teens with many things and it's a safe environment for them to be at. They also have a playroom upstairs for toddlers and babies. It's really amazing

It's pretty awesome to have a place like this that us as teens can just kinda go to hang out and volunteer not to mention all the staff are wonderful people and actually care about everyone here and tend to push us to help out around the community honestly I look forward to going there every week because it's just such a cool place to be they also tend to have some kind of volunteer event almost every week helping out someone who needs it 10/10 best place
Brookline Teen Outreach is such a great center to teens throughout Brookline and Beechview. This is the only center in the south hills for teens. They have amazing activities for all different types of students. Hiking is my favorite activity to do with the kids. BTO is also very open to cross culture activities. I think this is an essential part ever center should have, drawing kids together instead of apart. Teaching them about their differences and letting them know we are different yet the same. BTO is en extraordinary center.
The Brookline Teen Outreach (BTO) has grown rapidly since it's inception. I believe it's success can be attributed to both the need for a program of its kind as well as the dedication of the nonprofit's Director, Caitlin McNulty. Caitlin's leadership and hard work have propelled the BTO to rapidly establish an outstanding presence in Brookline. The Center offers life skills classes, movie nights, gaming events and much more. It has become a safe haven of sorts for teens both in Brookline and it's surrounding areas. I, in addition to many others, believe it to be a great asset to the community.
Great organization, helping kids at risk in the neighborhood and beyond. Totally fantastic and committed staff, who really care and go the extra mile!
Our community has sorely needed an organization such as this to model, mentor and motivate area teens to realize their potential and provide an environment where they are able to practice developmental skills, in a safe, inclusive, and affirming way. Kudos to Caitlyn and the staff for their vision and the hard work snd energy in deploying such a great cause!
Brookline Teen Outreach has already made a great impact in the community in the short time it has been open. Not only is it a safe haven for teens that provides dynamic programming and life skills classes, it also serves as a community center with meeting space for several community groups.
BTO is currently staffed and run all by volunteers who care deeply about the community.
I've had a great time volunteering for movie nights and fundraisers. Check them out!
Brookline Teen Outreach is a new community partner for our school, but has mentored some of our students for the past many years. I find everyone to be extremely knowledgable, caring, helpful and just absolutely wonderful!
I had an informal tour of the Teen Outreach center and was very impressed by all that is offered in the way of comraderie, game playing, tutoring, cooking lessons and movie nights. It has reached out to the community and allows use of space to other organizations such as Casa San Jose. Counseling services are also available at the site. So this is a community oriented place that is primarily a great outlet and resource for the youth of Brookline, but is also many more things! We attended a Night at the Races event there one evening and were so impressed with the facilities. It's spacious, clean and welcoming. Some of the teens helped serve the meal and bus tables and were very cordial and funny! BTO is an asset to the area and I hope it is there for many years to come!
I am so happy that Brookline Teen Outreach is in our community. It is a wonderful organization that gives teens the opportunity to learn important life skills as well as give back to their community. Brookline will definitely benifit from having a place with fun and interactive programs for kids to participate in!
Caitlin and her team are doing an outstanding job with Brookline Teen Outreach. Being a life long resident of Brookline, I truly understand the importance of having a safe, friendly and caring environment that the children are welcome to be part of. I know because I lived it, keep up the good work guys.
Sincerely,
Tony

Caitlin McNulty who is the founder of this amazing outlet for teens is a Gem herself! I've had the pleasure of working with her and her"kids" for awhile now and am always grateful and impressed. Her and the wonderful staff of volunteers do outstanding work! One of the greatest things about this Outreach Center is their willingness to try new things.
Recently I introduced my neighbor a retired teacher to her and they look forward to making the possibility of guitar lessons available- something that's sure to a hit!
I am constantly telling parents about this great organization and the opportunities for the teens to "get involved ". I really can not say enough good things about the BTO and hope to get further involved myself.
The BTO is an amazing, safe, welcoming place for teens. It's a wonderful addition to the Brookline community!!!
I attended a benefit for this organization, and I was so impressed by the dedication of the staff. They are doing a great service to an underserved community, and the appreciation and devotion of the teenagers really showed. This is a wonderful organization that provides therapy, social outlets, and career guidance to kids who would otherwise not have access to these things
The Brookline Teen Outreach center does a fantastic job of encouraging teens and engaging them in the community. It's wonderful to watch the center grow and expand its offerings. I have seen the teens in action, and I believe we are witnessing them become more confident people who are realize that they are cared about. They, in turn, have outlets for their time and talents and are able to give back to the community.
I am recalling several young adults who had difficult times as teens who would have greatly benefited from a center like this one. I am very glad that the center is there and I hope it continues to thrive.
A great organization with aspiring goals supporting the social and learning needs of kids. Highly engaged with the community. A valuable and much needed resource for PGH and the South Hills neighborhoods.
As a member of a local church, it is Great to see a program begin from the bottom up to help the youth of the Brookline area. Most recently, my wife and I attended a fund raiser for the Brookline Teen Outreach program, and I was impressed with a couple of items. The involvement of the teens was positive and engaging. The involvement of the community to support the group. And the involvement of the local community council - all of which contributed to a successful evening - Thank you to all involved - keep it going.
An amazing organization filled with amazing people and founded by someone who absolutely gets what the community is and what it needs. Caitlin McNulty works tirelessly to make everyone feel welcome, learn and have fun at the Teen Center. Both she and the organization are wonderful.
What a great addition to our ever growing Brookline Boulevard! It is a fantastic place for teens to be teens!! Thanks for all you do!
