The Brookline Community Mental Health Center is an amazing community organization that provides invaluable services to the Brookline and Greater Boston Communities. A true gem, the Center is a place adults, children and youth can call their home in times of need. Having been on the Board for 4 years, I am proud to be associated with the Center and to support all of the wonderful programs the Center provides. Without the Center, so many individuals would be without quality mental health services, violence protection and educational services ... all of which are greatly needed.
I joined the Board about 4 years ago, previously having hardly been aware of the existence of the Brookline Community Mental Health Center. It didn't take long to realize the wonderful compassion and dedication of the Board's staff, and to appreciate the Center's role at the heart of Brookline. Its services to families, individual adults, and children, as well as its involvement with the public schools and collaboration with other town agencies, all contribute mightily to the vibrancy of this community. And the Center provides its services to all who come through its doors with dignity and efficiency. The generous support it has won from so many Brookline residents and businesses testifies to its success.
The Brookline Mental Heath Center is truly a neighborhood resourse. The reimbursement for mental Heath services is quite poor, yet due to some very little public funding and some very excellent fundraising, they continue to provide FIRST rate mental health services.
Many years ago, a good friend was killed in a very horrific and widely publicized accident. She had 2 young children. The counselors at the BMHC helped those kids grieve and get on with their lives...and without the stigma generally associated with receiving mental health services.

I have heard young high school women in the Brookline community tell courageous stories of how the Center saved them from their deep sense of inadequacy and fear. This strugle is familiar to many of us as we pass through the toucg years of adolescense.
The growth these women made with the help of the Brookline Mental Health Center is a true testament to this wonderful resource that we are so lucky to have.

This is a community mental health center with the emphasis on community, treating all without regard to ability to pay. The highly professional, skilled and compassionate staff treat clients from 3 to 93, in the center, the schools or in client's homes. The support programs are innovative and national models for health care. The Center's programs are going the distance to eliminate the stigma associated with receiving mental health services. Clients feel "at home" in the center and get better and do better because of the services they receive.
Brookline Community Mental Health Center is an organization that is over 50 years old and has been a tremendous resource for Brookline and surrounding communities. The range of services and supports vary from children experiencing issues of adoption, to teens on the autism spectrum, to families struggling with unexpected homelessness. As a relatively new Board Member I am so impressed with the dedication of staff in meeting these complex needs.
