The Silverlake Conservatory has greatly enhanced my children's lives! Whether they are learning an instrument or performing with the youth choir, it's always fun. The choir has given them several amazing performance opportunities that they will remember throughout their lives! I am so thankful that Flea and Tree started this school and all of the teachers are wonderful!!!

The Silverlake Conservatory brings me much personal joy and inspiration....It took me a few years to garner enough courage to join the Adult Choir. My last group singing experience was junior high! From the first day I found a wonderful community, the songs are challenging and exciting, the performances are amazing. I have now been in the adult choir for over four years and look forward to it each session.
Apparently I love it so much, my son (Who was 8 at the time) asked to join the Youth Choir. He is turning 11 and this will be his third year of singing. He wishes the sessions were longer. His Youth Choir sang backing vocals on a few albums and performed with Garth Brooks, Katy Perry and Nick Cave!
Silverlake Conservatory is a vital part of our community. Most children and many adults in our neighborhood have been inspired by the Conservatory to try new instruments or to take singing lessons. My husband is a professional musician and many of his colleagues have taught or currently teach music at the Conservatory.
The Conservatory brings music to our lives by making it accessible and inviting to everyone, young or old, rich or poor, naturally talented or musically challenged!
I started going to Silverlake Conservatory to be part of the "adult vocal jazz ensemble" which is now the "glee club" because it was really fun, no pressure and the music was jazzy and challenging. SJ (the teacher) and Matt (accompanist) got us singing things that a lot of us thought would be impossible -- some of us read music, some don't, but we always get it together somehow. Then years later, I started taking private lessons with SJ and I like that even more. I've been working with her for a few years and my voice is soooo much better than when i started, not like I ever wanted to be a pro, I just have fun singing, but I've gotten to the point where I will get up and sing in front of people if I'm asked! It's amazing. I can even riff on things, something I never thought I'd do. I've done the intensive solo singing workshop a couple of times too, w/SJ, where you work on 2 songs to perform at the end of the session and it's amazingly supportive -- not just about how you sound, but the whole performance aspect. SLC is one of my favorite things in LA.
