Mission: The most powerful thing we share with others less fortunate is knowledge. We do so by delivering practical knowledge that encourages the poor to lift themselves from poverty on their own. This empowerment of the poor is accomplished through our Community Bridge Building programs, which demonstrate how knowledge and training can fuel positive change in their lives. Community Bridge Building is an incredibly successful way to teach this lesson. For, bridges allow people to cross geographical barriers like rivers/gorges/mountains, thereby allowing access to schools, hospitals, and markets. It is no wonder the poor consider bridges ?miracles?. But the true miracle is not the bridge itself, but rather the fundamental change in the hopes and dreams of those that we teach to build it.
Target demographics: access to healthcare, education and markets by teaching communities how to build footbridges over impassable rivers
Direct beneficiaries per year: 680,000 villagers providing over 35 million safe crossings
Geographic areas served: isoated communities around the world
Programs: training and teaching communities how to build footbridges over impassable rivers, in partnership with organizations and professionals. We prove the value of our work through a commitment to the community and its bridge that lasts long after the opening celebration.
We care deeply about eradicating rural poverty and are excited about Bridges to Prosperity because dollar for dollar, their work creates more economic lift for rural populations than we have seen with any other organization working in East Africa.
Bridges to Prosperity is impacting the lives of nearly a million people, connecting the rural last mile through rural infrastructure development // why am I just now finding out about them? Great organization.
Bridges to Prosperity envisions a world where poverty caused by rural isolation no longer exists and by the way their operation is laser focused and targeted, they are bound to make significant progress towards that lofty goal.
Their unique ability to provide bridge builds for industry teams and university students alike is an interesting leadership development program that has impacted lives around the world. I would definitely recommend getting involved with, and supporting B2P.
