Bridge to Hope is an amazing organization that seeks to meet the basic needs by using healthy food for their customers. They are very organized and efficient. I'm blessed to be able to serve alongside them to help our community and refer people in need to them to get their basic needs met. The founder, her staff, and volunteers are incredible.

Bridge to Hope is an organization I’ve come to know for its remarkable dedication to supporting families facing food insecurity and economic challenges. Their mission to provide not only immediate relief but also long-term solutions really stands out. The wrap-around services they offer—such as food assistance, skill-building workshops, and other resources—are designed to help individuals regain self-sufficiency with dignity and hope.

From what I’ve observed, Bridge to Hope is incredibly well-organized, and the staff are compassionate and deeply committed to making a real difference. Their approach goes beyond charity, focusing on empowering people to take control of their lives in meaningful ways. Although I haven’t yet had the chance to volunteer there in person, I’ve seen the impact they make, and I truly believe that anyone looking to support a nonprofit with lasting community impact would find Bridge to Hope to be an outstanding choice.

As I reflect on Bridge to Hope, I’m particularly impressed by how transparent and impactful they are with the funds they raise. The organization is diligent about keeping donors and the community informed on how contributions are used, ensuring that every dollar directly benefits families in need. Their initiatives, like providing housewares to families and school supplies to children, showcase a clear commitment to addressing both immediate needs and fostering long-term self-sufficiency.

What stands out to me is the breadth of their services, from food security and hygiene support to disaster relief. Bridge to Hope isn't just offering temporary assistance but working toward lasting improvements in the lives of the families they support. Their comprehensive approach, focused on economic stability, truly strengthens the community, making it clear that donations are used in a meaningful and sustainable way.

Bridge to Hope is an extraordinary organization supporting people in need with food. My son and myself have had the opportunity to volunteer with them and we immediately fall in love with their purpose. There is a great effort behind each donation day, not only to box the food but also to keep food fresh and save. If you are looking for good cause to support HERE is the place.

Bridge to Hope is a Blessing to our South Florida Community, it serves families in need especially since the cost of living especially food prices have dramatically increased over the past few years, the food given is well balanced for all age groups, the personnel are always helpful, welcoming and a pleasure to work with whether as a volunteer or client, I am grateful and proud to work with this nonprofit organization as long as I am able to

I have been serving with Bridge To Hope for well over 10 years since they were distributing food at St. John's Episcopal Church in Homestead, FL. Over the years, they have grown tremendously under the expert and God-led leadership of their Executive Director, Vanessa Tinsley. Bridge To Hope is probably the best, most organized relief agency in South Miami-Dade at this time.

When people need food, we are there for the community. When a natural disaster occurs, we are there for the community. When people need a phone or tablet, we have a program for that. When people need digital literacy lessons, we are there to provide the necessary lessons. Other non-profits are given breakfast and lunches for their young people. Kids receive bikes, helmets, backpacks and back to school supplies. We partner with health organizations to provide health screenings at no cost. Our services are too many to list here, all done with integrity, respect, kindness and compassion. Plus don't forget the smiles on our faces, enough to brighten everyone's day and shine forth HOPE, and the ever-ready attitude and hands to serve. Our clients often become like family. I am proud and privileged to be a part of this amazing organization.

Good evening please forgive my delayed response I haven't been well . Non the less you most definitely merit a response! My friend and I were first informed by a caseworker about your services. We were given two choices and went with you, especially myself because I loved the tittle. Bridge to hope which has been very much needed by all of us these days. Iggogled, called and the first very pleasant and understanding person I spoke with was Mr. Jesus. He gave me general details and was then referred to Mrs.Margie who also turned out to be another angel heaven sent. The program is great has helped me immensely. I'm from NYC originally, unlike Miami SS I receive mine the 2nd Wednesday of the Month at times Thursday. There's a 4-5 wk interim with no other income til then and getting this box of goodies thru their help and heaven sent gives me that hope so greatly needed to keep on surviving and having something to eat which I make due and stretch as much as I can. I'll be 74 yrs young()August 9th, widow, rent in efficiency and don't even own vehicle. It's been very hard for me. I do have family they live further north, I get my two friends to take turns and drive there! I also referred some others which with Gods blessings and yours this organization is also assisting with food!! I'm depending and deeply grateful to all of the workers and members for being our representatives and my Angels sent from heaven to give us and believe and have the faith and hope we all need. Please stay safe and well I pray for all of us and I always say we continue on "trucking" and being there for one and another. I am very appreciative to all please allow the Bridge to hope, workers, members, leaders to proceed and grow for years to to come they are our"Angels from heaven" here on earth from the universe to aid us all!! Pls forgive I'm a prolific writer, had always been in management positions all my life! As a single mother facing eviction I went online to look for avenues to feed me and my daughter looking for assistance I came across this website. I’m not stranger to food pantries cause it’s been an on and off struggle for me. While I waited for my food stamps to be approved I gave this a try once more. I thought this would be a good experience and I’m not going to lie at the beginning it seemed legit I tried signing up to get food and the lady I emailed about having trouble signing up tried her hardest to help me get started. Margi, I want to thank you for being so kind with me.
I got a card with my name and a bar code and I said to myself wow they’re really organized. The day came and I was exited, I thought it would be like other organizations where everything would be nice and neat and everyone would get in line and have a choice of what they needed and the amount. I thought everything would be sanitary clean and organized, I thought they would have a team ready to go and everything was going to be fresh and clean.
To my disappointment everything was the opposite. My appointment was at noon on Saturday 6/03/2023
It’s seemed as if all the food was a product of dumpster diving. Pastries uncovered with flies flying all around them. They had a big cake out in the open in a box with flies all around them. Toilet paper out in the open, boxes of food on the floor, cans smashed. Expired frozen ground beef, rotten potatoes, expired frozen food, packaged produced that smelled terrible. It was so bad that the guy infront of me who was homeless didn’t even want what they gave him and he returned it. After seeing all the expired rotten food we went to return it and the guy did not want to take it back and stated that they were on camera and that he wasn’t gonna keep on receiving returns. The ONLY thing that we recieved that was in good condition and somewhat usable was a tube of Colgate. It was terrible. There as a guy who once his student volunteers advised him they had tan out of bags he yelled at them stating the plastic bags they were using were “expensive” and to NOT “use those”. Eggs were smashed and the carton was mushy. I mean i know most people who go to food pantries go cause they’re homeless or going through a tough situation but wow this was just wrong.
It’s not rocket science to hand out food, it’s doesn’t take much but to be rude and unorganized and to hand out expired rotten food? Is wrong TOTALLY wrong you could see the disappointment on everyone’s face as they left. Donuts smashed, expired hygiene products… everything was just unorganized and dirty. Never again, I would NOT recommend this place. Maybe other locations might do it differently. Maybe this place was at one point successful and they just stopped caring about people but this experience was terrible. Sorry but not sorry. Just because I’m struggling doesn’t mean I have to eat expired fly infected food neither does my child. It’s not about being picky it’s about having some type of standard and dignity. I’ve been hungry and homeless before, hunger pains are NO JOKE, but I rather go through that then to eat food from this place. I’ve seen better. This place needs to be shut down.

Hi Jennifer, I would be happy to address your concerns. We were not able to verify you as a client served on that day. I can verify that all meat is received from our retail donors frozen before the expiration or sell by date. We serve over 8000 people each month and would not be able to do so if services were as you described. All sweets are offered as a selection so you would have chosen your products. We care deeply about those we serve. Occasionally, we receive product that should not be served and we rely on our volunteers to catch it. Rarely something gets by us but if it does, we are quick to make it right. We are regularly inspected and must maintain standards of cleanliness. Our entire staff is certified to handle food. We survey our clients biannually for satisfaction and have over a 90% highly satisfied rating. I'm very sorry you didn't ask to speak with a senior staff member at the time you say you were here as we would have gladly addressed any concerns.

Ever since I retired, I have realized that on a month;y bases I have had challenges having the right kind of food to prepare and to stay healhly. As I have aged with different health issues, this aspect of having enough food to eat and being self sufficient has been challenging. At the time of COVID, I had no where to turn, and by the Grace of G-d, my girlfriend told me about this faith-based food coop that I could trust to acquire enough food so that I could maintain living by myself yet having enough food to eat. The Bridge to Hope fed me for a whole year,no questions asked. Now since I am struggling with another health issue, I know that I can count on The Bridge To Hope to have the right kind of fresh food so that my recovery can take place in a timely fashion. Rev. Vanessa, Jesus, Marvin, & Lori continue to amaze me and welcome me, as I have chosen to donate as much time as I can in helping them continue their precious work.

Bridge to Hope helped my family when we were experiencing food insecurity and allowed me to provide healthy meals to my family. Their food boxes always have fresh fruits and produce, and protein. It really helped us out when things were tight over the summer.
I had previously volunteered with them when they were in Homestead and the children were small - around 15 years ago. I was so happy to find them again, that I started volunteering with them again. This has actually led to me now working with them.
My career path has always been in the non-profit sector as a Social Worker, and I have found my passion again for helping others and take great satisfaction in helping them with their mission to provide "...comprehensive wrap-around supports designed to create food security, improve household stability....... improve health, nutritional and economic outcomes, and bridge the gap to self-sufficiency for under-resourced and in-crisis households; to raise their quality of life, standard of living, and restore dignity and hope to those in need. I have known Vanessa, the founder of Bridge to Hope, since I was a little girl. When my husband and I took over my father's church we started to dream of how we could bless the people in our community. In this process I thought of Bridge to Hope and reached out right away. She not only helped us reach out community but she and her team have trained us how to do it well. I am constantly in awe of the amount of people they reach, provide for, help get back on their feet, etc. To know that they are there and available to serve the people in our community literally is what gives them their name. Bridge to Hope. They create opportunity for people to walk into Hope and give people dignity in hard times. I am so honored to be a part of their journey and to have their a part of ours. Together we are able to show love and hope in a tangible way.

This organization cares so much about their clients! The food they gives comes from the best markets. This isn't at all like any food pantry I ever volunteered at before. I've never seen a food pantry that gives so much meat, milk, and vegetables. Mommies got diapers. Some people asked for and received pillows and blankets. Everyone was smiling and happy. The people kept coming and coming all day. So many people. They really need all the help they can get, they deserve it.

I have been deeply moved by Rev. Vanessa Tinsley's love and commitment to our community. She is a tireless warrior working to bring hope to people in need in Miami-Dade county, and South Dade especially.

Far too many families struggle with food and basic necessities on an average day, but with the COVID-19 crisis reaching its peak, those same families have been thrust into a horrible crisis.

I can't sit on the sidelines and watch people suffer.

And I can't sit back and just watch as brave people like Vanessa, her staff and her courageous volunteer "Hope Heroes", spring to the aid of so many people in need.

That's why I've decided to become a Hope Hero myself!

I am a recurring monthly donor and I donate my time and energy to this wonderful organization. It makes me feel good to know that I am doing my part to strengthen my community and make it a kinder place to live.

If we all do a little bit to support the vital work of Bridge To Hope—we can make BIG things happen.

We can transform our community for the better.

You know it's true, together, the Coronavirus is no match for us. So let's go!

If I could direct all my treasure to Bridge to Hope, I would! I met Vanessa when I was doing some community checking after Irma to see how folks were doing down in South Dade. Someone said to me, if you want to check in on what's happening and what folks need in Homestead, you need to talk to Vanessa Tinsley. She invited me down and took me on a tour of their facility. The thing that stuck out to me most, was that all of their services were designed to give people in need, as much dignity as possible as they accessed safety net services. Free clothing is organized like a store, where clients schedule a time and choose the items they like, food is organized so you can select items that connect to your culture or your normal cooking habits. People stopped by jsut to say hello, say thanks, and to see if the volunteers and staff were doing ok.

In this time of social distancing, they have shifted their approach to take the services to the people. We recently got a call from a woman who was homebound and almost out of the her food reserves. She called crying desperately in search of help. My coworker took her some food to cover her for a few days and we passed her contact to Vanessa who said, "We've got her!"

This is what that woman said to my co-worker when she called back to let us know she received the delivery:
"She called me yesterday with tears of joy to let me know that food was delivered to her home. She was happy because she said she received a box of “those shell breads” aka croissants and she’s never had them. She also received vegetables and chicken.

She was thrilled and happy with her food."

Such a small thing, but such a huge thing at the same time.

Thank you BRidge to Hope for all you have done and continue to do!

Not only did he serve as a volunteer, he also chose to do his Eagle Scout project to help this organization. He and over 30 volunteers built picnic tables for the patrons to have a place to eat during the monthly cookouts. Bridge to Hope is living up to its name by offering a bridge to close the gap of iniquities that are prevalent in our community. Bridge to Hope offers food; services; education; and various services were applicable to the community and seeks opportunities for those that are either unaware of the tools and services that are around them offering a life line. I myself have participated in these services when I was in need. I know the founder to be of a strong moral character; sympathetic to the needs of our community with a genuine and hearth felt demeanor. There is no question about it. Bridge to Hope stands for “Us” and with “Us” in the good times and the bad. Thank you Bridge of Hope. Every month everyone was committed to gathering food that would have other wise gone to waste to help other families in need. Most of the families that received the food and school supplies were regulars and always expressed immense gratitude the help. This group as built on trust, patience, and faith. I learned a lot from my work here and I am so proud o how much Bridge to Hope has grown. Where do I start... I met Vanessa in December of 2015. I was driving by Naranja Park Baptist Church on my way to get my cafe con leche the 3rd Saturday of the month. I was curious so on my way back home I pulled over and asked what was going on. It was explained to me and than asked to be guided to the 1 in charge. Vanessa and I hit it off before anything was said and before giving her my name I asked? " Where do you need me?" It's been 6 months down our journey and we continue to do what we do best. Bridge2Hope is an organization serving the Naranja and Homestead Area for about 20 years now. Vanessa and her husband Mark wholeheartedly serve their community always looking for a way to alleviate the neighbors challenges. She has mastered the art of making a lot out of so little and facing the challenges that come with a non profit but constantly grateful for the ample amount of volunteers and organizations like FarmShare, the USDA, Books and Books to name a few continued support. I look forward to serving aside to her and grateful of being associated with an amazing kindred spirit. We look forward to the future and our purpose when it comes to serving our community.

The boys receive their volunteer hours but it is so much more meaningful to them than the service hours. They enjoy helping others, it gives them a chance to see how little things change lives and how much showing others respect and kindness matters.

Bridge to Hope is such an incredible organization! I was able to participate as a volunteer at the Stamp Out Hunger food drive and learned more about the incredible work Vanessa and her team do. Thanks to Bridge to Hope thousands of families can have a better sense of security and dignity.

It is a pleasure to write this review for Bridge to Hope as I am deeply grateful for Vanessa Tinsley's assistance. I am a nonprofit professional, and a client experiencing homelessness. While every story is unique, I have none of the general precursors to homelessness, and my needs often go unmet because they do not fit within systematized eligibility criteria. Trying to secure a new job when one cannot meet the most basic of human needs only extends the time frame of homelessness. When I contacted Vanessa for assistance, I explained I had been living in an airport for a good part of a month waiting for services and a friend had agreed to assist temporarily; however, my friend was also struggling and food would benefit us both. Due to the nature of this housing arrangement, I did not have shelter documentation to substantiate homelessness. Vanessa's demeanor over the phone was kind, supportive, objective, and she offered a "no questions asked" solution: plenty of food for us both on that same day. After we loaded my cart with groceries and toiletry items, Vanessa spent an hour talking with me about my story, and we spoke as fellow women and human beings. Thank you to everyone affiliated with Bridges to Hope. Your assistance is not a "donation"; it is an act of justice and kindness.

My family were in dire straits during the time that Bridge to Hope got started, we received meals from them a few times, then, I got a job and was able to support the family and it was time to give back-my son helped load and unload the truck full of donated materials with Mark, I helped Vanessa set up her bookkeeping system logging in donations, the value of them, and the disbursement of the materials to the people in need, I also helped with food distribution, giving out Christmas gifts to children, helping set up yard sales to sell excess items which monies garnered were funneled back into providing food to the needy. I worked with Vanessa for about 3 years during the late 1990's. This is a wonderful organization started on literally a shoestring that has grown exponentially and thank God for the growth and the spiritual leadership of Vanessa. The Bridge to hope provides people with pride in themselves again, with confidence to go out and try again, nourishes their bodies and spirits and is a great benefit to the community.

I've had the privilege of being a coach for Vanessa Tinsley during her participation in the Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Miami for over 2 months now. I have witnessed the strength of her leadership, the solid foundation of her organization and the incredible impact she and her team at Bridge to Hope have on the community. This is a remarkable organization that genuinely brings hope and provides for the most basic necessities of her community in South Miami Dade County. I am so excited to continue volunteering, supporting and contributing to the growth of this organization and I can't wait to see how many more lives it will continue to touch in the coming years.

I've been a Bridge to Hope volunteer for three years now. I 've always been service-oriented and I was looking for a worthy activity for my kids as well. There are many deserving organizations, but we found a home at Bridge to Hope. Vanessa Tinsley runs the program with the greatest love and compassion, bringing together a diverse group of volunteers in serving an equally diverse group of families that really need and appreciate our help. For our family, volunteering for Bridge to Hope has been a life-enhancing experience and we are truly blessed in having the opportunity to serve others through this organization. For us, Bridge to Hope has truly become a family affair and we thank Vanessa for everything she does and for showing us what great love, compassion and sacrifice are about. I have known the directors of Bridge to Hope for close to 30 years now. You will not find more loving, caring, and honest people. They are truly committed to this ministry and to helping the poor with dignity and grace. We support them wholeheartedly and volunteer at their monthly outreaches. It's our way of saying thanks and atta boy/girl for all they do.

I showed up with my husband and a few of the members of our community organization (the North Miami Jaycees) to help some of our friends who volunteer monthly at Bridge to Hope. As a person who regularly organizes events, I was immediately struck by how organized the whole operation was despite the many and varied tasks to be accomplished in a short time. My group was immediately put to work and we did not stop for at least three hours. We had the opportunity to meet and talk with Pastors' Stone at the end and we all left feeling like we had done a really great thing. The November event included a full Thanksgiving feast, canned foods to take home, and even clothing. Despite being an hour's drive from our neighborhood, I suspect we will return (hopefully a couple of times) next year.

I am the volunteer photographer for Bridge to Hope's events. I just shot thier Thanksgiving Day Meal last Saturday and I really saw the difference this organization makes in the community. Over 500 individuals from all walks of life attended, were fed, and given canned goods and more to take home with them. I personally got to speak to a few of the subjects I photograged, and they do really appreciate Bridge To Hope's efforts with the community.

I have had the opportunity to volunteer to help this organization from time to time and have always found it's directors to be very giving, generous people who are dedicated to serving as many people as they can through this npo. They have often sacrificed themselves in numerous ways in order to continue to distribute food and basics to the many needy families that live in the Homestead area.Yhey are truly an inspiration and a blessing to many.

I have cooked for Bridge to Hope for several years now at their monthly food distribution. I went one time just to help out my friend Vanessa and was immediately hooked. The small children and families who count on this service are wonderful. I have watched the need grow vastly in the past year and somehow Bridge to Hope keeps filling the need. It is an amazing group and I love working with them.
