Mission: The Brentwood PAL program is now over 2 years old and has serviced over 1,000 youth in the Brentwood community. The goal of the Brentwood Police Activities League is to build a bond between cops and kids. The method of doing so is to host daily after school activities on 3 school sites, ran by officers, paid staff and volunteers. During the hours of 3-7pm, over 80% of all juvenile crime takes place. By operating during these hours Brentwood PAL hopes to prevent youth from committing crimes and being victims of juvenile crime. Brentwood PAL also sponsors trips for large groups of kids to take special field trips to places such as the snow, camping, San Jose Sharks games, water parks, and many other special trips as well as sporting leagues and tournaments. Brentwood PAL offers all of its programs free of charge and even offers equipment when youth cannot afford to purchase it.
Programs: The Brentwood PAL program offers these activities on a daily basis: Free time; Homework Assistance; Board Games; Bumper Pool; Ping-Pong; Structured Activities, such as capture-the-flag, soccer, baseball, basketball, speed ball, and many more exciting games. Brentwood PAL offers these activities on a scheduled regular basis: Soccer Practice; Wrestling Practice; Cardio-Kickboxing; Roller Hockey; Basketball. Brentwood PAL has taken place in the following special activities in 1999-2000: Snow Play Day; Camping trip; Sacramento Experience; Soccer Tournaments; Basketball Tournaments; Wrestling Tournaments, San Jose Sharks Games, Roller Hockey Tournaments, Trips to the Water park; Black Diamond Mines; San Francisco Exploratorium; Brentwood PAL tries to offer as many opportunities for our youth to experience as possible. Many of these activities are experiences most of the youth involved would never experience without PAL. It is vital to our organization that we continue to bring in donations as well as grants in order to continue to expand and improve upon the services offered. Brentwood PAL hopes to one day have its own building and forms of transportation, as these two aspects seem to prove the most costly to our program.
