Mission: Transforming lives of women struggling with drug and alcohol addiction by providing a long-term residential program to experience physical, emotional and spiritual healing through recovery. As the first long-term residential recovery program for women in georgia, breakthru house is designed to meet the unique needs of women struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Utilizing the 12 steps and therapeutic community, breakthru house provides a safe, structured drug free environment to foster a life of recovery while therapeutically addressing addiction as a disease, unresolved grief, trauma and poor self-esteem issues commonly associated with female addicts.
Programs: Breakthru house provided residential and clinical addiction treatment to 30 women. All clients were homeless and 100% entered on an all-inclusive scholarship. Organization developed a strong professional clinical team. Clients' basic neeeds were met in a therapeutic setting including: housing, utilities, grocery assistance, transportation assistance, and comprehensive case management. Clients participated in a fully licensed clinical treatment program designed to meet each woman's unique needs. Clinical services included 18,270 client-hours of group therapy, 14,040 hours of group education and 3,225 hours of one-to one counseling and individualized treatment planning. Clients were assessed for trauma and trauma-informed interventions. Clients worked with the staff and dedicated volunteers to achieve healthy and self-sustaining lives. Breakthru developed a strong volunteer base of over 100 volunteers who provided 1,544 hours of enrichment groups which included classes on budgeting, job-readiness with a job coach, nutrition, exercise sessions, gardening, spirituality, and more. Additional enrichment opportunities provided to the clients of breakthru house included: client family weekend: educational sessions and family interaction groups preparing clients for employment by adding job readiness sessions with a job coach increased health and wellness enrichment activities : morning exercise sessions, nutrition classes and right brain strenghtening activities and core dance for creative movement added legacy matters program to address the residents' challenges with understanding non-healthy family patterns and embrace positive family patterns and lifestyles developed new partnerships: community supervision to serve re-entry citizens the municipal court of atlanta - community court division
