Mission: The Irvine chapter of Bread for the Journey was incorporated and granted 501 (c)(3) status in the year 2000. It is one of 18 chapters nationwide. The organization was founded by Wayne Muller in 1988 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We believe in the natural generosity of ordinary people who volunteer their time, money and creativity to foster change where it is needed. We understand that a small quiet network of dedicated volunteers can serve others in a diverse community with simplicity, minimal administrative costs, dignity and effectiveness. We are not so much about money, as about supportive relationships with people.
