Great organization and so timely. My sexual assaults happened over 30 years ago and I still have stuff come up that I need to work through. This is a safe welcoming place for anyone with a story. And we are many!

Brave Step is the Charlotte region’s only victims-first organization. Brave Step prioritizes help, healing and hope for victims above all else. I came to this nonprofit as an untrusting, scared and isolated person, and received the therapies and peer support I need to help recover from PTSD due to sexual assault. Highly recommended. Dont waste your time elsewhere and dont wait to seek services from Brave Step, if you are a fellow victim, I know you already deserve everything Brave Step offers.

By my personal experience I have found Brave Step to be a unique nonprofit that offers everything an adult survivor of sexual abuse could hope for. Their services and offerings are extended with respect, sensitivity, privacy and a wealth of hope and healing. Support is provided by experienced professionals as well as a strong network of fellow survivors who share their stories and techniques for healing and growth. Peer support coupled with professional support ensures each survivor is on the right path for their phase of the journey out of silence, shame and guilt to a life of joy of their own design. In short Brave Step is astounding. Their approach is so innovative it allows a survivor to access a full range of quality care. That level of care would otherwise require a bricks and mortar facility that does not exist currently for adult survivors and if it did would be far less private, reach far fewer individuals and would require tremendous costs to build and maintain. Brave Step deserves recognition as an adult survivor's best help and hope. It also deserves the maximum funding support possible to enable it to grow its reach, expand on the critical services and programs currently provided and implement those envisioned--crafted with insightful wisdom and knowledge of the community served . Brave Step is truly one Great Nonprofit!

I was sexually abused in my early 20’s. I never dealt with the shame or embarrassment of the entire situation. I later found out I had contracted a disease which only led to further humiliation. I suffer from depression and low self esteem to this day. I’m better off due to all the people in BraveStep who walk your walk and guide you along the way. They have resources available that many of us could never afford. Better yet, they are available to talk to and guide you to the right person. People in this group have truly taken a Brave Step.

Bravestep is truly a wonderful organization! I am new to the process after experiencing childhood sexual abuse when I was 5-6 years old and locked that experience deep away inside me. Doing this and thinking i could do this alone has impacted my life negatively in so many ways, depression, self-harm, low self esteem, bad relationships, etc. Through Bravestep, I am learning to deal with the triggers that cause me to relive this traumatic experience. They offer restorative yoga, group and personal counseling as well as other helpful ways to face this. Everyone I have met has been very caring and supportive. It really helps to know that I don’t have to deal with this alone. Unfortunately and fortunately, there are others that understand and help. I feel like talking about anything sexual is difficult and often carries a lot of shame. I am truly grateful to have found such a unique and wonderful organization.
