Mission: Organization provides a broad public benefit to all citizens of brandywine hundred area including claymont community center, a social service organization, along with our community partners, is committed to provide life-enhancing social interaction, life skills training, and human services for our communities.
Programs: Building support - provides a safe, easily accessible facility for non-profit and community based tenants who provide educational, health, child care, learning, family crisis and civic services.
health services - offers access to primary care to unisured and underinsured of all ages. In addition, we can refer to nearly 80 specialists who offer services at a significantly reduce rate. When possible, pharmaceutical assistance is also provided. Health support groups on topics such as diabetes preventive and care and smoking cessation are available.
senior center - programs, classes and activities are for men and women 50 years of age and over. There are opportunities for daily activities, such as playing cards, billiards, and exercise. Structured classes are available for group exercise, computer instruction, arts and crafts, and line dancing. Other activities include card tournaments, monthly birthday parties and the ever-popular bingo. Daily lunch may be purchased. The center takes day and overnight trips to local and non-local attractions. Transportation to and from the center is available monday thru friday in the claymont area.

Counseling center - offers short term counseling for mild to moderate situations such as depression, anxiety, parent/child conflict, or difficulties with life transitions such as grief, loss, or divorce, targeting individuals and families who are uninsured or underinsured. Psychiatric backup is also available on a limited basis. Referrals are made for major or long-term care. The center also provides intervention services for at-risk children and families referred by the brandywine school district. Workshops to promote mental well-being are offered on topics such as healthy relationships and anger management for both school-aged children and community/groups. As available, food closet clients are given two bags of groceries with dry and canned goods and frozen or canned meat.
