The Braintree Rotary Foundation, Inc. is the charitable arm of the Rotary Club of Braintree, MA. 100% of all funds raised through a variety of fund-raisers are returned to the local and international community in response to need. We sponsor sports teams for just about every youth sport there is. We award four scholarships each year and maintain a wonderful rapport with our public and private schools in Braintree. Every third-grader is gifted with a dictionary, and every fifth-grader is gifted with a thesaurus every year! We run an Adult Spelling Bee in conjunction with the South Shore Plaza's Simon Educational Foundation, a memorial tree at the Thayer Public Library, and a golf tournament in the spring. Members of our Rotary Club founded and continue to volunteer at the Braintree Community Youth Center. When there are international disasters, we respond with donations through our District. Most notably, when the earthquake ravaged Haiti in 2010, we raised $30,000 to purchase 30 Shelter Boxes, which became homes for 300 people in Haiti, providing them with basic shelter and the ability to have clean water and cook food where there were sources! We shipped hundreds of cartons of shoes for women and children to Afghanistan, and we support all local charities and food banks in the Braintree area.
