I have been a board member for Boys and Girls Clubs of West Alabama for seven years but I was also a volunteer for the annual fundraiser for many years before that. I believe that the mission of BGCWA to invest in children and teens is vital in every community. I am thankful to be part of this organization who believes that all children deserve great futures and is there to provide them with the mentors and the programs to give them the roadmap to those futures!
I have much respect for BGCWA and the staff and team behind supporting the kids and families of our community in West AL. They'd never shut down during pandemic and were supporting critical workers and their children. When schools were operating remotely, BGCWA as open with fully staffed and supported computer labs. I've never met a club alumni that did not speak highly of a mentor they valued during their time as a club kid. We're fortunate for our community's families having this option available for their children to be actively engaged and supported in 1) academic success 2) character and citizenship and 3) healthy lifestyle.
