Causes: Boys & Girls Clubs, Children & Youth, Youth Development Programs

Mission: The mission of the boys and girls club of dane county is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

Programs: Teens of promise (tops) is an exciting initiative in partnership with the madison metropolitan school district. This initiative works with high school students to prepare them for college access and success. Students who apply for the program, sign up for the advancement via individual determination (avid) elective in high school, and make the commitment to be on the college track will be offered tutoring, mentorships, paid summer job internships, and college field trips, and will be eligible for a scholarship to a four-year college program or a two-year college or technical college program. 1,189 students participated in the avid/tops initiative during the 2016-2017 school year.

Programs are provided in the areas of character and leadership, education and career development, the arts, sports, fitness, and recreation, health and life skills, and other specialized initiatives.

the college club program's vision is to inspire and prepare members in grades 1 to 8 for their educational future. The curriculum focuses on topics like goal setting, college entry, financial aid, career development and life skills. Case managers work with each student to set academic and personal goals. Case management also provides the opportunity to connect college club members' families to community resources in the hopes of removing any social and/or economic barriers interfering with students' education. College club members are rewarded for their active participation and progress through prizes, field trips and service-learning projects.
