The Boys & Girls Club of Carteret County was responsible in helping the city of HavelocK, NC to develop a Boys & Girls Club. I am a Taco Bell franchise and became aquainted with this club through the national program Taco Bell had at the time to help America's youth. When I read about the club, the fact that Colin Powell placed one on every military base, and the financial record it maintained I felt a club was needed in Havelock, NC. I felt this was a charity that did as it professed. It helps children become responsible and productive adults. I am happy to say that by allowing Havelock to share the Boys & Girls Charter held by the Carteret club children of the US Marine Corps living off base at Cherry Point Marine Air Station where given the oportunity to join this great organization. I am a donor, and I sit on two boards because I believe in the value this organization gives to children who would not ordinarily receive such sound guidance. I am almost 75 years old and will continue to serve this children as long as I am able. I ask you to join me in helping these children of our worthy service men. Sandy Hagan

I am always impressed with the impact the Boys and Girls Club of Coastal Carolina has on the youth of Eastern North Carolina. It is a fantastic organization and I have learned a great deal since I started volunteering. The three Boys and Girls Clubs under the umbrella of the Boys and Girls Club of Coastal Carolina give the children a safe, caring environment that nurtures and mentors tomorrow's adults. I've seen how grateful these kids are for that, just last week at our local Youth of the Year Competition. They are so grateful to the Boys and Girls Clubs that they are members of - but really isn't this something we/society owes them? Thank goodness the Boys and Girls Club organization feels these children deserve a chance and want to provide it.

As a single mom it is important for me to have a secure place where my 10 & 12 year old daughters can go after school. I appreciate Mr. James and his staff for providing this place. My children are learning all sorts of valuable life lessons while there. They learn respect - respect others and themselves. There are also lots of opportunities available to them; although they don't always take advantage of them. I am so interested in this Club succeeding that I have gotten involved. The Club is a great place.
