Scouting has made an incredible impact on me and my family. I did NOT have the advantage of family scouting and Scouts BSA girl troops when I was growing up, and was rather disappointed in the scouting program offered for girls at that time. Scouts BSA has opened up a whole world of opportunities for young men AND women. Scouting builds character, teaches life skills, teaches teamwork, and shows young how to face challenges and obstacles and overcome difficulties. The "Words To Live By" of the Scout Oath and Scout Law are words that ANY parent should want for ANY child!
Can not say enough GOOD about Scouts BSA. I've been involved for almost 20 years - started with my son who now works for local council office. Not only are we building character in young people, we don't know what doors may open to them because of their experiences in Scouting- for my son it lead to a full-time job as a professional scouter. It is VERY exciting to me that we now have girl troops - wish they were around when I was a kid! I spent a few years in Girl Scouts, it was not my thing. I'd rather be outdoors!

I attended summer camp a Patriots Path Council camp in 2008 as an assistant scoutleader. The following year I was hired for summer camp staff. This past summer was my 10th year on staff. I am constantly amazed by the high caliber of people I've met in Patriots Path. It is exciting to be part of scouting now that it is becoming more family-oriented by welcoming girls as well as boys! Patriots Path also has other camps, and I don't know as much about them. However, I've met other scouters who HAVE attended them, and have heard great things - especially about Sabattis up in the Adirondaks. There is a lot of information on their website - ppcbsa.org. Always glad to contribute and support scouting - it's a great program for today's youth.
