Mission: Botanic gardens conservation international (bgci) was founded in the u. K. In 1987 to link botanic gardens as a cooperating global network for effective plant conservation. The organization encompasses more than 500 botanic gardens members in 117 countries. Bgci provides tehcnical guidance, data, publications and policy leadership for conservation projects and education programs through conferences, workshops, training courses and manuals. Bgci also maintains a growing database of rare and endangered plants held in more than 300 botanic gardens worldwide. Bgci helps strengthen regional and national networks of gardens in many parts of the world and bridges worldwide cooperation to the efforts of each member garden.
