Mission: The Boston Philharmonic operates on the premise that all people are innately lovers of classical music. Many have already discovered their passion, while many more await an opportunity to learn about it and become involved. As an expression of its vision "Passionate Music Making Without Boundaries" the orchestra's mission is to transform the community's relationship to classical music by making it available and accessible to all.
Programs: Provide opportunities for an evolving community of amateur, student and professional players to perform together, to present challenging classical repertoires and to enhance the public's awareness and understanding of music. Through its recordings, pre-concert lectures and affordable concert tickets, the orchestra actively seeks to reduce boundaries between audiences and the music itself. The orchestra annually presents four (4) concert series in jordan hall and sanders theatre, venues in the greater boston area. In addition, the orchestra began the boston philharmonic youth orchestra ("bpyo"), an initiative which presents concert series at various venues throughout the year. The members of the orchestra participate with bpyo members as musical mentors, working with younger musicians in local schools and programs.
