Causes: Arts & Culture, Cultural & Ethnic Awareness, Fund Raising & Fund Distribution
Mission: "Building children's character through books" is the mission of the Books 4 Kids Program.
Results: Each of the Books 4 Kids books contain character-building messages such as kindness, anti-bullying, respect for others, etc. To date, we have given books to over 6,000 students and at every event we've seen a noticeable improvement in the way the children interact with one another.
Target demographics: students from PK through 8th grade feel a sense of inclusion as they learn a character-building message from their book.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 6,000 students from PK through 8th Grade
Geographic areas served: the public school system to provide students a mini book fair, where every student receives their own book for free.
Programs: The Books 4 Kids Program provides a live event where the students have an opportunity to meet the author, hear the author read their book, and then each student receives their own copy for free. Having each student participate equally removes the status or stigma that usually follows a book fair where students are purchasing books. This approach helps cement the character-building messages we aim to instill.
