I volunteered at Proyecto Horizonte in 2011 and had a wonderful experience. I felt like I was doing meaningful work in the community. The best part about volunteering at Proyecto Horizonte is that they want every person to work where he or she will be the most impactful, and they are very willing to accommodate the volunteer's needs. For example, I was doing research for my master's thesis while volunteering. Eliza, Niki, and the rest of the staff were so open to providing me with opportunities to explore the different projects at the site, interview employees, and meet community leaders. I could not have completed my research without their incredible support. Every project felt like a team effort, and every volunteer had the chance to become deeply connected with the community. I highly recommend Proyecto Horizonte for anyone who is looking for an opportunity to experience life in a different culture!

When I was searching for an organization to volunteer for I didn't have much of a criteria, I just knew that I wanted to be in South America. Some how I stumbled upon Proyecto Horizonte and it has by far exceeded my expectations! I could not have asked for a better group of people to work for/with. Volunteering here has been life changing for me. They are so open to all ideas and are willing to work with the volunteer and their idea to make it successful within the organization. I am so thankful that I had just stumbled upon Proyecto Horizonte because I know that these experiences will always be with me!

When I came to a Proyecto Horizonte outside Cochabamba, the largest project of the Bolivian Charity Foundation, as a volunteer I had great expectations. I was also fearful, that this would not be the right place for me and my work wouldn't make any difference. However now that I've been here for one month and have helped the programs in the daycare-center and the school, I can see the importance of Proyecto Horizonte for the whole community in Ushpa-Ushpa. The project gives so many kids an amazing opportunity to discover new aspects of life, to study in an friendly atmosphere and also to participate in youth groups or sports and art activities. Although there is still so much to be done, I find it very enriching to work with the kids and have the impression that together we can make a huge difference and offer the children new perspectives and opportunities.
