My wife and I are military veterans and we tried having a baby for several years and kept failing. We tried IUI and failed. We then tried IVF and learned about the Bob Woodruff Foundation from searching online. The cost for IVF and all the medications were very high and Tricare did not cover IVF. When I learned about BWF, I applied and our application was approved. BWF helped us tremendously which relieved some of our finance hardship. We will forever be grateful for BWF and Anne Dougherty.

BWF is the most responsive, supportive veterans' nonprofit I have worked with to date. The Foundation provided my wife and I with the grant that enabled us to pursue IVF and eventually give birth to our first child. It also provides a critical mainstay of support to Bastion Community of Resilience, a veterans' housing community and support hub here in New Orleans. I cannot recommend BWF highly enough.

I have worked with BWF for 6 years on their annual fundraiser, Stand Up for Heroes. It is a truly humbling experience each year to meet many of the Service Men and Women who come to Stand Up for Heroes, who have benefitted from the Foundation's programs, and hear about the positive impact the Foundation's work have had on their lives and the lives of their caregivers. It is somewhat unusual to actually be able to able to see first-hand (as a contractor who works with many clients) the fruits of an organization's labor, and it is very impressive. Internally, I've seen the Foundation grow over the years, expanding the staff in order to serve growing need and an expanding vision. I'm deeply impressed with the Foundation's leadership and their ability to continually improve upon their internal structure so as to support their mission. The staff gets better and more efficient at their roles every year; it is a very well-organized team.

It's so refreshing to work with a foundations where most the money they raise actually goes to the people they help instead of their operating costs. The Bob Woodruff Foundation really cares.

I have never met a group of people (many c-suite individuals, with not a lot of spare time) who care so genuinely about every individual who benefits from their incredible contributions. The BWF is like a family with relationships that span over years and decades. Everyone who the BWF touches comes away knowing they are a part of something really special.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation has so much to offer the Veterans in this country! This group is fantastic at raising awareness of the multitude of issues Veterans face - and yet they are so much more. As Director of PTSD program at Columbia University in New York I had the opportunity to partner with Bob Woodruff Foundation. The foundation is becoming one of the most influential organization in the field of traumatic stress. its commitment to the wellness of post 9/11 veterans, via partnerring with academia and community centers is a central mission of this Foundation, aiming to deliver evidence based mental health care to veterans, and to provide training to clinicians across the nation.

SUS.org is among the proud recipients of Bob Woodruff Foundation’s 2017 Fall Grant cycle. The grant will specifically be addressing education to employment (VEEP)

Services for the Underserved envisions a New York City where everyone enjoys a roof over their heads and a happy, healthy, life of purpose. Because employment is fundamental to helping the most at-risk veterans rise from poverty into rewarding and fulfilling careers, SUS addresses individual challenges with services that include housing and career counseling, financial guidance, and connections to high-quality education and training programs with real career paths. Veterans Education to Employment (VEEP) helps some of NYC’s most vulnerable veterans prepare for civilian employment, secure interviews, enter new careers, and subsequently follows up with additional necessary support to ensure individual success. This Bob Woodruff Foundation grant supports VEEP programming for post-9/11 veterans.

THIS is a working example of the kinds of quality services and the opportunities made available to Veterans in NYC.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) offers support to post -9/11 veterans, servicemen and women and their families. Since its inception, BWF's fundraising efforts have raised over $45 million for veterans. BWF events like VOWS, Dine Out for Heroes and Stand Up for Heroes really mobilizes communities – from veterans and Wall Street execs to NYC eateries and high-profile comedians – around veterans causes and has truly made a difference for veterans and veteran programs across the country.

Stewardship and Vision! I've had the opportunity to meet with several of the board and staff of BWF in recent years. I believe that this organization distinguishes themselves in two ways - Stewardship and Vision.

Without question, the board and staff at BWF are acutely aware of every dollar in their care. They have maintained very low overhead and management expenses, such that 87 cents of every dollar goes to towards their mission and causes. Financial efficiency is at their core, and they are true STEWARDS of every dollar donated to their mission.

BWF has an excellent vision and is truly at the forefront of helping veterans. Moreover, they are aware of the needs veterans face that aren't being served in traditional channels. Education, training, quality of life, healthcare...these are things the VA just can't address. BWF is committed to uncovering exactly what veterans need, then partnering with great organizations to deliver world class support. Their VISION of what great service to veterans should look like is simply unmatched.

In a world of increasing concern over "fake news," the Bob Woodruff Foundation story continues to inspire, both for its genuine (& harrowing) origins and the sincerity of its work leveraging the world of mass media to support those who have given their all for this country in uniform.

Woodruff, an NBC correspondent grievously wounded in 2006 by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while reporting in Iraq found himself in the fight of his life -- for his life -- with wife Lee by his side every step of the way and the best medical support money could buy. He ultimately survived and recovered, to find that the experience transformed his life and its purpose to one of thankfulness, service, and the imperative to give back.

This story and spirit empowers the Bob Woodruff Foundation and its team of extraordinary professionals who rise to meet that challenge, and live that imperative, every day.

I had an opportunity to meet this team in their New York office earlier this year, both to learn about the organization and see it in operation.

Truly impressive. Seasoned managerial expertise balanced with combat veteran experience from multiple generations and military services form a team as efficient as it was hard-hitting, and as effective in civilian circles as it was knowledgeable in military ones.

Innovation, insight, empathy, and skill all converge under this roof, with very moderate overhead and extraordinary devotion, to punch far above their weight in the growing world of veteran service organizations and to deliver outcomes that make a real difference for America's real heroes.

I spent my summer volunteering for the Bob Woodruff Foundation and it was a great learning experience. Everyone at the Bob Woodruff Foundation was extremely welcoming and took the time to help me grow and flourish as a volunteer, especially since it was my first time in the workplace. During my time there, I learned how to use websites, such as Salesforce, as well as how to pitch different companies and restaurants for their remarkable event, Stand Up For Heroes.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation touches lives through the meaningful and hard work they put in to reward those who have served our country. The selfless work they put in every day is due to the earnest and genuine people working behind the scenes. The Bob Woodruff Foundation's impact is evident through the lives that they have touched and the organizations that they have helped.

As the Executive Director of Corvias Foundation, I have seen the true impact of the Woodruff Foundation on military families. One recent example of this was when Woodruff Foundation reached out to us to facilitate the donation of books to a military installation. The author, Beth Kobliner, had written a book about raising financially savvy children, and she included a chapter on military kids. Together, we were able to organize an interview and Q&A with Dr. Kobliner with military families on an installation and donate the books as well. The families learned a lot and the impact of the talk continues to resonate to this day. The Woodruff Foundation does not shrink from opportunities to do more for military families, even if the answer to a question is not immediately apparent. Thanks for all you do!

The Bob Woodruff Foundation is an outstanding organization that remains true to its core mission of serving our most deserving and often under-served population of veterans. Their multidisciplinary team of leaders have helped them continue to grow, while providing public awareness of the need to serve our returning veterans and their families.

Walking With The Wounded has been delighted to partner with the BWF since 2012, working with them on The South Pole Allied Challenge 2013, subsequently the Walk of Britain 2015, and now with our next adventure – the Walk of America 2018. WWTW is also partnering with the BWF for our new US veteran support network – The Veteran Trans-Atlantic Partnership, which WWTW and the BWF are launching in collaboration. The BWF is our partner of choice, given their work within the veteran community, their stringent due diligence processes, and their can-do attitude and professionalism. Last year, my husband and I attended Stand Up for Heroes, a gala concert and fundraiser that the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) holds. It was an overwhelming evening that brought to life BWF’s incredible mission to support military veterans and their families. Following that night, we knew we wanted to be involved. We helped edit a Foundation publication and my husband now volunteers with one of the veterans’ organizations that BWF supports. This year, we are volunteering at Stand Up for Heroes in New York. BWF does amazing work to support the veterans who have been on the front lines for the U.S.

I have been a Bob Woodruff Foundation supporter for almost ten years now. As a fine art painter, I have donated many original paintings for the BWF online auction. And, have attended many of their Stand UP For Heroes fundraiser in November, always a stellar show, so well put together.

In my professional travels, i am also aware of organizations around the country that are supported by the BWF. The reputation of the Bob Woodruff Foundation is exemplary in every manner. The BWF does such great work in supporting the hands-on non-profits all around the U.S. that need the funding the BWF offers. These local orgs are hand-picked and vetted by the BWF staff. And I do know that they run a very tight ship, there is not a drop of wasted effort in the BWF.

As one of the Founders of Dine Out For Heroes and I am continuously motivated by Bob Woodruff's personal story as well as the millions of dollars raised by his Foundation . These funds allow returning veterans and their families to benefit from a multitude of programs and improve their lives. The Bob Woodruff foundation is an essential corner stone organization in the veteran’s space. They are one of the best organizations in regards to Post/911 services! Having watched the Bob Woodruff Foundation over the last few years, I have been impressed with how they use national reach in funding solicitation to benefit local veterans service providers. I do a lot of volunteer work mentoring veterans in photography. The Bob Woodruff Foundation has been incredibly helpful helping my program gain momentum and direction.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation provided an opportunity to go to a Bruce Springsteen concert as part of a veteran program. It was a once in a lifetime experience, and the Bob Woodruff Foundation made it a wonderful night for my wife and I. The Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) has been instrumental in assisting Veteran Servicing Organizations by providing grant funding to support veterans and their families. Their efforts are unmatched in the Veteran and military community. BWF understands the needs of the veteran community and puts forth every effort to accommodate those needs.
