Mission: Positively impacting the lives of the children of the virginia blue ridge by using the game of golf to teach life-skills, core values, and healthy habits.
Programs: The blue ridge youth golf foundation continued to deliver life skills, core values, healthy habits, and golf at its 2 local partner locations: highlands golf park and birdwood golf course. Of the 209 unique participants who registered for winter, spring, summer, and fall programming throughout the year, 16% are non-caucasian and 12% are teens ages 13 and up. A new partnership with the charlottesville police department was formed where police officers served as mentors alongside students from walker-upper elementary once a week for 8 weeks in the fall. Our boys and girls club partnership continued in 3 club locations: southwood, orange, and james river. Additionally, a new youth-serving organization partnership was started with the youth development council of greene county. Through our programming in elementary schools, including all 7 charlottesville city schools, in youth-serving organizations, and on the golf course, over nine core values and nine healthy habits were taught to over 4,273 youth in 2017.
