Blue Ridge Humane is a staple in the Henderson County community. They not only take care of adoptable animals, they also provide services to those with pets already: a rehoming listing for the public, low-cost vaccines and spay/neuter service, vet assistance, pet food assistance, a pet helpline, and education to the community on animal welfare. They also foster animals and manage a thrift store! All of this and they also provide amazing benefits and a living wage to their staff.

Blue Ridge Humane Society is a very smart, well rounded, long standing nonprofit. BRHS has spent the past 70+ years striving to make the lives of the animals (and their humans) the best they can be. Without BRHS the community of Hendersonville would definitely suffer. I am so proud to work with all the dedicated individuals that make up the staff and volunteers of this fantastic organization! Please consider donating to their amazing cause today!

A huge thank you to BRHS for serving our community as the gold standard in animal welfare and care. The more I work with this organization, the more I get to see their long-term plan and vision of providing excellence service, varied programs and education to the people of Henderson County. They are an anchor in the community and without them, I honestly don't know where we would be with a healthy pet & human connection. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the work you do!

I observed this organization from afar, then became involved as a volunteer and I am happy to report that the closer I came, the better and better Blue Ridge Humane Society looked. Very professional leadership, incredibly caring staff, and a legion of devoted volunteers. I am very proud to be affiliated with them!

My husband and I adopted these three animals from Blue Ridge Humane Society. The Shih Tzu whose name was Butch was adopted in 2019 at the age of 10. The Maltese mix was adopted in 2021. The black kitten was adopted a few months ago in 2022. Butch our Shih Tzu passed away in the beginning of 2022. Annabelle was so lonely so we went to look for a companion for her at Blue Ridge Humane Society . A few months ago we found a beautiful black kitten whose name was Violin. We changed her name to Oreo. Annabelle And Oreo are a match made in heaven. They are gentle souls ,as was Butchie. Blue Ridge Humane Society does a fabulous job helping to find the right animal for a perfect fit. We thank them for all the help they have given us ,as we have adopted our three animals from them. Thank you again for everything. Anne and Lee

To all the professional members associated with Blue Ridge Humane Society ,and the blessings of the vast donors that help with the overwhelming bills they give to help all, and also of our young cat I named (kitty-kitty) ,they have truly been our only hope that they reached out to us ,with helping us out ,for this beautiful precious little kitty-kitty we tried to rescue ourselves ,and bringing him to the animal hospital for services this last Christmas . Our newest member has such a loving disposition, and very grateful to see him getting better by the day ,gaining weight, and a wonderful loving joy to have around . Just a tender thankful and long soft purr from him as well . Well done and another huge shout-out to all . Many ,Many Thanks from Jerry & Rose

I had the privilege of volunteering with this organization pre-Covid as a cashier in the Thrift Store, and during that time, I adopted a dog from their shelter. Both experiences were wonderful! You will not find a more dedicated group of people - staff or volunteers - anywhere. As I recall, nearly 90% of the money the store makes goes to support the shelter - that's amazing and impressive. And the shelter staff and volunteers go above and beyond to care for their animals, and to help other shelters when they are overwhelmed. Unfortunately, due to health and age issues, I can't volunteer any longer - but, oh, how I wish I could! This is an OUTSTANDING organization and deserves your vote and support.

I adopted the most wonderful puppy Nemo (aka Stu) last October. He was a tiny guy, but it was obvious he had been cared for well. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful..and they celebrated our “gotcha” day with us.

Blue Ridge Humane not only rehomes, finds original homes, fosters, manages volunteers, runs a thrift store, delivers free pet food, and educates the community on animal welfare, but they also pay a living wage and have a high rating on Charity Navigator. Amazing staff, amazing organization.

We adopted Finn in December 2018. The Blue Ridge Humane Society set us up for success at every step, from the initial adoption counseling, to a free first vet check up, a free training session, and a discount 8-week "dog manners" training class. They provide numerous free services to the community, from free pet food giveaways to spay/ neuter pet clinics, to fun community events that even engage people without pets. They are what a humane society should be, to every species (human and otherwise) that they support.

Always a positive experience, with great finds with $ going to the Humane Society. Once our family had to sing a Christmas carol to get a discount, we rocked “White Christmas”! Love this place!

We were looking for a new pup to join the family. We contacted Blue Ridge after seeing a photo of a cute pup on their website. We had a very informative and productive chat with their behavioral specialist and realized this was probably not the right dog to join our house. We called them again a week later after seeing a photo of another pup that had just come into their care. Their response was “we thought of you when we met this guy!” They put him on hold for 2 days until we were able to bring our dog over for a meet and greet. They were super friendly, supportive, and mindful of making a proper introduction with our dog. We knew within the first minute that this was the right guy for us! Thank you to Blue Ridge for all their help in adding Bennie to our family!

Blue Ridge Humane Society has helped me add 5 animals in total to my life and each time was so special. From the staff, to the care they provide for the animals and the community, Blue Ridge Humane Society is amazing! Not to mention, they are one of the most organized and clean rescues I have ever worked with. Their emphasis on education and supporting people and their pets is outstanding.

My sweet Harris was taken in twice by Blue Ridge Humane Society. They were very responsive to my inquiry and contacted me immediately when he was available. I could tell how well the animals were taken care of when I went to pick him up. I’ve never met more enthusiastic people about one of their dogs getting adopted! It was a great experience! I will definitely adopt from them again.
