Mission: To prevent cruelty and promote kindness to animals in our community.
Programs: Blue mountain humane society serves as the animal shelter for the city and county of walla walla and surrounding areas. In 2014, we cared for 2,155 animals until they could be returned to their owners or appropriate homes could be found for them. We joyfully reunited 435 pets with their owners and we placed 1,252 pets in new homes. Our commitment to not euthanize for space led to 245 pets being transferred to other no-kill shelters and rescues around the state.
What a great organization! I have lived in Walla Walla for many years, and am so proud to see the progress our local shelter has made over the years. They even started a Trap/Neuter/Return program for feral cats, working together with other animal welfare groups in town, so they could stop killing feral cats in the shelter. I just adopted my cat from them.
